I got to see Jack in my freshman year, 1957. He scored those points without the 3 pt line and without a jump shot. He still lives in T-Town, I think...As a bribe, if Mark Sears comes back for 1 more year I'll bump him up to number one. Right now, Mark is #6 all-time for points per game in a season. A guy from the 50s (Jack Kubiszyn) owns the top 2 spots. Reggie King was #4.
Wendell Hudson opened the door for all these players, that's why he will always be in my top three.Best player and best career are two different things to me. The best player is Brandon Miller. There is just something about the way he moves and plays. He's just different. Sears may well be approaching the best career. Leading Bama to a Final Four is s big boost to that legacy.
Others near the top of either list (that I have seen play):
- Robert Horry
- Anronio McDyess
- Derrick McKey
- Collin Sexton
- Latrell Sprewell
- Kennedy Winston
- James Robinson
- JaMychal Green
- Buck Johnson
- Gerald Wallace
- Mo Williams
- Ron Steele (man was he good before he got hurt)
I'm just a little too young to have seen the teams in the late 70s and very early 80s play, so I cannot evaluate Dunn, Douglas, King, etc.
