I am not sure this is the right place for this article but according to Charlie Potter we currently have 90 kids on scholarship not counting the ones we may sign next month. We have discussed we have three committed who may or may not sign and we have 2-3 targets we are going after. Blueshirts and greyshirts will be part of these last remaining players and it looks like some current roster "management" will need to take place to get us down to 85.

Just from looking at the deph chart I would think at least one or two of the quarter backs will be leaving. If Young is as good as advertised I could certainly see Talia and Tyson possibly looking around. If it actually looks like he is a threat in the Spring to be our starter next fall you certainly could not blame Mac if he looks around as well.

Well, he would have to be absolutely clear-cut better than all of the other qbs to see him emerge as the favorite by the end of Spring Camp. By then, isn't too late to transfer and win a job somewhere else? Also, with injuries, the backup is ALWAYS one play away from being the starter.

Also, for Bryce to master the playbook by the middle or latter part of Spring Camp is not likely...

Yea, I read that article and it is very good. If we are already 5 over and looking to add up to 5 more then I suspect every position will be affected. Maybe not the DLine or Backers but that is pure speculation.

4 quarterbacks
7 running backs
9 wide receivers
7 tight ends
16 offensive linemen

11 defensive linemen
18 linebackers
14 defensive backs
4 specialists

No argument from me and I truly don't expect Young to be the starter by end of spring by no means but he certainly could be making Jones work for it. If he is clearly above Talia and or Tyson on the depth chart coming out of spring which is certainly possible I could see them looking around even though as you say it would be too late for them to transfer and start somewhere this fall but if the writing is on the wall.....

Scott Lashley is now in the portal so if he is or was on scholarship that makes 89 now.

The players below are ones to watch on signing day in a couple of weeks.

Jamil Burroughs, Powder Springs, Ga., DT. The 330-pound tackle is an Alabama commitment but has not signed.

Jay Hardy, Chattanooga, Tenn., DT. Hardy missed much of the season because of a vicious cheap shot to his knee suffered while he was blocking for an extra point. He is an Auburn commit but did not sign in the early period.

Javon Baker, Powder Springs, Ga., WR. He’s not the biggest receiver, but he is strong and has great hands. He’s committed to Alabama but did not sign early.

Alex Huntley, Columbia, S.C., DT. Along with Jordan Burch, Huntley combined to form one of the best defensive lines in the country at the Hammond School. Like Burch, he is committed to South Carolina but will wait until February to sign.

Avantae Williams, Deland, Fla., S. Williams is considered by many to be the best safety in the country. He is still unsigned.

Zachary Evans, Houston, Tex., RB. He reportedly signed with Georgia but is being let out of that obligation. Texas A&M and LSU are the leading candidates to take a chance on the super talent.

Kris Abrams-Draine, Spanish Fort, Ala., WR. When the Toros were struggling this season, Abrams-Draine moved to quarterback and led them all the way to the Class 6A state championship game. He is still committed to Ole Miss but not signed as he heals from a knee injury on the last play of his high school career.

Jahmyr Gibbs, Dalton, Ga., RB. No player burst on the recruiting scene quite like the explosive Gibbs. He is committed to Georgia Tech but has not signed as teams from around the country recruit him

Sedric Van Pran, New Orleans, La., G. One of the few top recruits expected to leave the state of Louisiana this year, Van Pran is committed to Georgia but did not sign early.

McKinnley Jackson, Lucedale, Miss, DT. Jackson is the country’s best uncommitted player. He’s still considering LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn and Alabama. He was the MVP of the Alabama-Mississippi Classic, where it looked unfair to allow him on the field with other 17-year-olds, before shining at the All-American Bowl.

Jordan Burch, Columbia, S.C., DE. Four players from South Carolina made the Southern 120, and all four are expected to be Gamecocks. Burch is a polished pass-rusher who chose South Carolina over LSU, Georgia and Alabama. He will be the best prospect to arrive in Columbia since Jadeveon Clowney if he follows through on his commitment and signs in February.

why is everybody blowing off damien george, this is the guy i think signed already but did not want to announce. a very good prospect, but is very raw.

George and Mac Jackson both have that natural god given strength and size for their perspective positions. Which puts their upside through the roof. Mac has the low center of gravity, short area quickness. He plays with that bull in a china shop aggression. It’s hard to tell if George has good feet on all the film I’ve seen, but one can only speculate that him shedding pounds would only make him quicker. He already stones guys Momentum with just one hand.
