Who is Saban's replacement?

My source is friends with a big time booster.
This was just sent to me:

"DeBoer has been offered the job. Washington AD is currently meeting with DeBoer for an extension. Ball is in DeBoer’s court.

Byrne told Norvell no this morning due to NCAA infractions.

Also Lanning was never offered the job.

Sark was offered.

Bond in the portal now. Here we go!

Time for the new coach to sell the team why they should stay and hopefully Saban helps in those conversations"

This actually makes sense.

All was quiet on the alabama front and even the Sark front until late last night. So i assume thats when he turned it down.

Alabama pivoted and went to Deboer

Fingers crossed at this point. If Deboer says no, and norvell is out, and sark has said no. I guess Tommy rees becomes a rael option huh?

It’s obvious that there was no plan in place, the admin was caught completely by surprise, and the results are showing. TBH, I am a little disappointed in the way Saban has handled this as well. IF this was a spur of the moment decision.
Slow your motor a bit. You’re speaking with limited information, and even less awareness.

Saban may have made his ultimate decision at the last minute, but you can bank that he had a plan in place.

Looking at the tenor of most posts I remember why I pretty much stopped posting and jsut reading on occasion. If its on the internet it has to be true right? Dont ever pay any attention to the ones really involved and what they say, just believe latest social media post and run with it till the next one then react to that one and the next and next........... Throw enough darts and you will be able to say see I told you so and conveniently dismiss the darts taht entirely missed the board.

Is it? Do you know for sure there wasnt a plan in place? No one really knows that except Saban and Byrne

Think about how hard it is to recruit at Washington though. It will be infinitely easier at Bama.
And South Dakota lol.

We see what all these five stars have done for Alabama, right? First three year run in Saban's career without a title, except for number one recruiting classes.

With the ability to transfer almost whenever you want, development will become key. Coaching will become key.

Winning is always the best recruiting pitch.

Everyone has the same recruiting/NIL/portal coordinator now--Ben Franklin.

Coaches are asking for a peak at the "hidden" books to get a sense of how good a recruiter they will be at their next stop.

At that point you had to have picked up the phone and called some combination of Kiffin, Dabo, and Lanning right? Rees is only an option if you have no options.

No, but it’s very frustrating hearing all these hypocritical excuses about why we can’t hire Kiffin. When we literally have had no problems going after, and employing guys with a much more checkered past.

Are we looking for the best available football coach? That can recruit, in the toughest conference in football?

or are we looking for a preacher?
We are looking for a football coach. Do we want the guy who acted like a brat at UT and then deserted them for his dream job at USC after one year? Maybe we want the guy who was so effective at his dream job that he was canned and left on the tarmac. No? Maybe we want the guy who thanked Coach Saban for giving him a chance to improve his image at Alabama by being so unprofessional and unprepared that he was excused from his duties between the semi-final and final. By the way, that last one likely cost us a championship. That guy? Really? Those are my reasons without even mentioning the "other" stuff. Of course, I'm not in charge of hiring Saban's replacement, so maybe you will still get your wish.

I agree, and I think the bolded is key. If you're at a school where you think you can actually win a title/that has elite level money (i.e. a top tier SEC or Big Ten job) that job probably is more appeaing than Alabama at the moment.

If Lanning wins a national title at Oregon he'll be a god there. The pressure and expectations following Saban here are a totally different level. "The guy who follows the guy" is a really tough spot.

The landscape of college football is much different than it was just a few years ago. We no longer have a PAC 12, and now teams like Oregon and UW are in the Big 10 competing against the blue bloods that is Michigan and Ohio St and I can tell you Wisconsin is going to be right there when Fickell gets rooted in.

So, apparently Dan Lanning thinks he's in a place that can bring in enough fire power to compete in that super conference. Does DeBoer think the same thing about UW? Alabama does have the fire power and has the resources and the brand to guarantee that he can compete.

One thing to keep in mind - coaches and ADs like Byrne and Saban look at coaches differently than we do. We want a home run. They might be looking at a triple with high potential and up side. We really have no clue how they’re approaching this, and we might be pretty disappointed at first, when he’s announced.
