Who is your preferred opponent in SEC championship

We could drop either and get in but lets go 8-0 in SEC play!

Correction: If we drop the Auburn game, we need Ole Miss or A&M to win out to make Atlanta. If we end up in a 3 way tie with A&M, UGA and us at 7-1:

i have no clue how they are determining ties, but i would have thought that head-to-head would put us over georgia and playing a and m in that scenario

If we play like we played tonight and gift an inferior team 17 pts I don’t see us making the SEC championship or playoff… if we play a better game we can win out the regular season but I would prefer to miss sec championship game and playoff first round and see how deep we can go

Not sure of all the tiebreakers but I think only way we miss sec championship game is lose to Auburn and if we lose to Auburn we are not in playoffs. I assume if we make sec championship game and lose the committee will not punish the runner up. But if we win sec championship we most likely will be top 4 seed and get a bye. A long way off but the reward is worth the risk

if we beat Auburn then it’s mathematically impossible to miss the SECCG because of tie breakers.

I’ve seen us already projected to fall from anywhere to 10th to 14th in the Polls and the Committee is influenced by them whether they admit it or not.

We don’t have any room for a 3rd loss anywhere.

It’s do or die now.

11-2 SEC Champs - In

10-3 or 9-3 Losing 2 games in the final 3 or 4 - Out

I think we drop to 9 or 10 in the polls. I am not confident that we beat Auburn but hopefully the players are. lol.
I think OU will beat both LSU and Mizzou since both are home games for them. At least UGA put Texas out of the playoffs. I'm ready for a 16 team playoff now! lol

Yeah, if you look at the current rankings, we pretty much have to win out to get in, unless there is massive chaos. Personally at this point I want chaos.

I think you mean "miss playing in the SEC Championship game". I don't know of any math used in the playoff selection process.

Yes. Just tired posting. But I meant SECCG. Us beating Georgia kinda prevented them from jumping us in seeding.

But I have a feeling that Both SECCG participants get in the playoffs regardless of one of them potentially having 3 losses. I think it’s going to be more pins and needles for the teams on the outside looking in of the SECCG.

Yeah pretty sure they don't use math.

What they do is have all the teams in contention written on the floor, cut the heads off 12 chickens and where ever the dead chickens fall down, those teams get in.

Honestly, I’m not even sure we beat the Barn. Ty has been off since the Tennessee game, and our OL is simply awful. The OU game was our chance to take the next step as a team, and we totally blew it. We absolutely MUST sit Jam. I love him as a player, but he’s either not healthy right now or simply not playing well. The difference between Jam and Hill is staggering. Even if we beat the Barn, I don’t see us winning the SEC. We’re still not quite there as a team.

9-3 yes we are out, but 10-3 I’m not so sure. It’s really going to be an uncomfortable 14 hrs of worry but I think if it’s against an undefeated TAMU it’s gonna be difficult to put another Mickey Mouse Big XII team in over us after weeks of saying “this is the best resume”. Could they? Absolutely but i just don’t see it. We would likely be the 11 or 12 seed in that scenario but hey we would be in.

That's the truth.

This reminds me that I should have put my statement about the committee not using math in blue font. I meant is as sarcasm against the committee, not @81usaf92

In this scenario you would have three teams with one SEC loss; Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss. We would win out over the other two because of the tie breaker.
I don't think that is the case.

2. If there is not a complete round robin among the tied teams:

a. If one team beat all the other tied teams, it is selected for the championship game b. If one team lost to all the other tied teams, it is eliminated, and the remaining teams revert to the beginning of the tiebreaker procedures for second place c. If no team either beat all the other tied teams or lost to all the other tied teams, all the tied teams advance to the next step in the tiebreaker procedures

It basically comes down to the won loss record of the teams that you have won against. So if teams that lost to Bama (Vandy and Mizzou) lose to teams that Bama didn't play (Kentucky and Arkansas) then our opponent win % is low and we miss out on the SECCG. First, we have to beat Auburn.
