Who’s leading QB1 race in FALL practice?

He has only had about 2 weeks practicing with the team, so to be where he was today says something about his ability to adjust and play. Two more weeks of practice before game 1 could pull him ahead of the competition if he continues progressing and processing at that rate.
I agree.

If Lonergan wins the starting role now then we likely lose Sayin who they may already believe is a good as Lonergan is now. Likewise him winning the battle likely puts us in the position where we lose 2 or upperclass QBs to portal. Such that you are left with Lonergan, Buchner, and maybe Holstein and rebooting on 2024 QB recruiting.
Dont think you need to worry bout that...............

Saban isn't going to not start a guy for fear of losing a future QB. He's going to play the guy he thinks gives us the best shot at winning.

But based on everything people are saying it probably won't be Lonergan at least not game 1
Lonergan has had both spring and fall with the team. Buchner has only had fall practice yet all reports place him ahead of Lonergan.

Whether TB wins the stating position or not, I'll say this about him. The kid has heart and just seems to refuse to go away. Injury at Notre dame, losing his job at Notre dame, transferring to a new school, Being unpopular with casuals on social media. Having to learn a brand-new offense and still fighting his way into the conversation.

Lonergan had an 80 yard TD vs the 1st team defense. He was by far the most decisive guy out there and pretty much knew where the play was going. But I still wonder what his chances are realistically since most of his day was spent on 2nd and 3rd team.

I think Dylan is progressing as they had hoped Milroe and Simpson would which means the later two have portal potential at the next opening. Think their Buckner dice roll paid dividends.

It'll definitely work itself out. Live games will tell the full story. The problem is MTSU probably won't be enough of a challenge to give us a clear idea. And Texas is probably good enough to beat us while we figure it out.

The good news is losing to Texas isn't season ending but it does leave a lot less margin for error moving forward.

Maybe if it was last year's team that beat Miami. But apparently, they lost everyone off that team going into this season. I could see it being a dress rehearsal game that everyone overreacts about.

idk I heard many say “losing to Tennessee isn’t the end of the world” last year too. I think it’s a bigger deal than many think.

Thank you for the updates! My fear is Saban and is gonna be loyal to Milroe(because he's been here longest) the way he was with Jalen over Tua in 2017.
I think the difference is that Jalen had been a successful starter already, and had gotten the team to two NC games. That's tough to bench when you don't really know how the other guy will respond to live fire in a pressure situation.

I mean it definitely wouldn't be great. But it wouldn't technically end the season especially if we have more than 1 QB play that game.

But yea it would mean we have to win out basically to get to where we want to be.

Probably not, but I think MTSU will do what alot of Bama's OOC opponents do and play above their heads for awhile. They may put up a fight............
As for Texas, their offense is supposed to be good, but their defense is an unknown......some say not as good as last years defense. If Bama's defense can unsettle their QB and disrupt their receivers, I think they will be ok............I think Bama will win a dogfight
