Paul Johnson if MM knows what he is doing

Just check out Chan Gailey's record against UGA and envision him coaching against Auburn.

Gailey is a nice guy but he is overmatched against top notch coaching imo.

Chan Gailey - Mr Mediocre

Chan Gailey vs UGA "Just Lose Baby!"

2006 L 12-15
2005 L 07-14
2004 L 13-19
2003 L 17-34
2002 L 07-51

This year was Chan Gailey's one for the thumb year.

Gailey is a heck of a nice guy and he can really hire a good defensive coach.
But win he doesn't.

I am.

That's how bad it's gotten. Ole Coach Christmas may be ah steppin' up to the podium.

However the good news is that I can personally guarantee that as your HC you will not see me run Darby up the middle for -2 yard runs.

Re: If reports on Saban hold true, is it Johnson or Grobe (or someone else)

The guy from "Friday Night Lights" From a female perspective he is easy on the eyes:wink: But hey we have already been there and had that....

I want a coach who can inspire, has some wits about him, and can WIN!

I think we talk to Schiano and Kragthorpe... not sure about how far things may go on either front. On the NFL front, there's the possibility of Gruden and one of the top-flight coordinators in the League. Would lean toward Kragthorpe... but truthfully, many names have been thrown around, but none of them with enough regularity to say "he's our #2 guy."

BTW, still do hear much about Johnson except from the fans... sorry dabaxter and Irishman. However, I am still hearing Chan Gailey's name at least once or twice a day.
The #2 guy could be just about any names mentioned on here. I think Schiano
(I believe he is the Rutgers HC) is on the list somewhere. I just hope Chan Gailey isn't the back-up plan.

Since most are being sarcastic , I'll join the party . There is one name that I cannot believe nas not been mentioned - Jim Donnan . He may be as good of an evaluator of talent as there is .

Re: Who's Next in Line Behind Saban? Johnson, Grobe, or someone else?

Alabama's next coach is................Uncle Rico!

Uncle Rico: Back in '82, I used to be able to throw a pigskin a quarter mile.
Kip: Are you serious?
Uncle Rico: I'm dead serious.

I'd be interested in seeing what sort of team Rick Neuheisel could put togather. I think he's an assistant coach with the Baltimore Ravens now....and Ozzie Newsome works there as well. However, I understand there might be problems with hiring him. Doesn't the NCAA have to approve the coach's hire first? :conf3: Plus we might as well paint a target on our backs if we hired him. Too bad though. :(

I wouldn't be too upset if Mike Riley got the job. I would hope, however, that he would realize Bama fans want a good defense and SEC play demands it. :)

I still like Jeff Tedford of Cal, but I don't know if he'd comsider coming to the SEC. I've heard he's happy our west.

And I'm not so sure Mac McWorter (of Texas) wouldnt do a good job. He's an assistant head coach and was there when Texas beat USC for the National Championship.
