Why more young men in Germany are turning to the far right

i saw this recently and found it worth listening to.
Katja Hoyer, historian originally from the former DDR, and a book about the DDR called Beyond the Wall, speaks about the current climate in Germany.
German ask why the current problems cannot be fixed and I lay a lot of it at the feet of policies adopted by unelected EU officials, especially the European Court of Human Rights, which is an unconstitutional, unelected court that runs roughshod over the democratic mechanisms that are equipped to address the issues driving disaffection. The ECHR tells the peoples of European states, "screw you citizens, when you erected this court system, you abdicated any democratic control over your country. Now stew in our ex cathedra dclarations. We don't care what you want."
Erecting a court separate from and parallel to the normal court system is highly inflammatory and destabilizing because the body of law they enforce is so vague and undefined. The concept of "human rights" law is doing much the same thing in Canada.
I'm curious as to what means the ECHR has to enforce its dictates.

What happens if Germany (or any other country) tells the ECHR to pound sand? Can the ECHR do anything? If so, what?

Two things. The ECHR has the EU to enforce dictates. Hungary under Orban paid one million Euros/day for ignoring ECHR dictates to open its border. When the EU imposes a fine like that, the member state has to consider whether it is better to just leave the EU or to stay in an pay the fine, or to comply.

Every member state under the ECHR has the right to abandon the ECHR, but Euros are scared to death of declaring themselves outside the ECHR's jurisdiction, which Europeans are Loathe to do. After all, it's "human rights." Who is opposed to "human rights?" British politicians (for some strange reason, the UK left the EU but remained part of the ECHR) refuse to simply declare a withdrawal from the ECHR because of the domestic political backlash.
