he is already our best lineman. with more muscle and a little less weight he will be one of those that dosent come along very often. he man handled #98 most of the day.

Doubt it. Heard an analyst say that if rules were allowed, out of high school, he would have been drafted and probably a backup right now. (Against Grown Men at 18?) this guy is a beast.

For a guy his size to have the speed that he does is very rare for a lineman and it doesn't come around often. On JPW's fumble returned for a TD I noticed Smith was moving pretty well going after him and was the closest guy.

He could be one of those to leave after his sophomore year like Vick did and have success in the NFL.

Let's not forget we have several other guys we are redshirting right now who will be able to contribute next year. I have a feeling other top OL prospects will be putting Bama on their short lists because of what Andre has been able to accomplish. At the same time...we possibly have one of the best OLinemen to ever put on a Crimson jersey...looking down the road. We ought to thank God for the amazing abilities Andre has been given...and his mama for raising him right.

RTR!!!

I predict that he will be all SEC (2nd team at worst) this year. Then All American his next 3 years if he decides to stay that long. He will join John Hannah and Dwight Stephenson as best OLs ever at bama.

dosen't he have to stay thru his jr. year due to nfl rules ? correct me if i'm wrong but he's a true freshman starting not a redshirt freshman and i believe you have to be 3 years removed from high school so that would put him having to stay thru his jr. season.

The rule is they have to be 3 years post highschool so if they redshirt then they can leave after their Soph year. AS of course has not redshirted so he would leave after Jr year. For Bama's sake I hope he doesn't.

By the way, Chris Samuels is a pretty good O Lineman -- I know Shaun certainly thought so!

um sorry to burst your bubble... but the closest guy was #7 will oakley i can see where you would get confused tho...

btw... will is FAST

We'll have him for two more years after this year and then he's gone.:conf3:

Funny thing, my brother just laughed at me when I kept telling him before the season started people would be putting Andre Smith in the same category as John Hannah, Dwight Stephenson and Chris Samuels by the time he leaves Alabama.

Guess who's laughing now???? :)

Has an offensive lineman ever won the Heisman? Andre looks like as good a candidate as ever to do it. People are going to have a hard time watching the ball in a couple of years with Andre dishing out the pain on a regular basis.
