Question: Will Junior Day on Saturday lead to a commitment or two?

Andrew Bone tweeted earlier tonight that Bama was getting close to another commit. He then said Winston and Shanks are attending Junior Day on Saturday. I wonder if either (or both) will commit. Rumors have been talking about both possibly committing soon.

It would be great to get them both wrapped up after this visit. Hopefully Gulledge and Thomas have been in Shanks' ear. Is there a list of visitors for the weekend?

I don't know about a list. Shanks goes to Prattville, which has sent several players to Bama (Kevin Turner, Roman Harper, Kyle Tatum, Nick Gentry, Nick Perry, and the 2 you mentioned). I think Shanks will end up with Bama in the end.

It's very possible. I know that Winston wants to commit early but I haven't heard if Shanks will commit early. That would be great though if we could get a commit out of both guys early

I am hearing that Jay Minor team mate of J Shanks is visiting UA this weekend with him. They both want to play together and the word is if he gets an offer they both may commit this weekend. Again just a rumor but seen it on several boards now. Do not know much about Minor. Minor looks to be a DE or OLB. He will have to put some weight on to play DE I think. Anyone got any info on him beside the profiles I am linking.

Jay Minor is a pretty good ball player. He is more of a pass rusher type that I think could play OLB, but not sure if he'll get an offer. BTW I saw Shanks today at PHS. He is about 6'3-ish and very muscular. As far as build, he reminds me a little of the Dareus workout clips we saw when he was coming in. Although he doesn't have as thick a lower body as MD. Looks very athletic and easily 270-ish. He is for sure not a NT in Saban's 3-4, almost surely a DE.

I never understood the talk of Shanks playing in the middle for Bama. I'll see what I can find out about Minor.

Spent some time close to Shanks less than a year ago and I definitely think he is a DE. He is tall and lean and strong as an ox. I don't see him having the center of gravity to push the middle, but I could definitely see him bull rushing the edge. I know I wouldn't want to get in front of him.

Justin Shanks has reminded me of Dareus, at this stage, from the get-go.

Seems like Andrew Bone is confirming that Shanks and Winston are coming today. Glad to hear Travis Blanks is coming too

In a recent interview Shanks said he is 6' 2" and 272 lbs in the off season. He said he played DT in the interior line last season at 295lbs. He is being told that he is probably going to be an interior guy in college. That is why he is listed as a DT on his profiles and in our prospect list.

I just don't see Minor getting a scholarship offer from Bama. Right now his only offer is South Alabama.

The University of Alabama is hosting numerous elite prospects in the class of 2012 which will include players who have already received the Scout.com National 100 distinction.

Barry Sanders, Jr., National 100 running back from Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City, Okla., is making his way to Tuscaloosa for the second time. Sanders was on campus for Alabama's 2010 Homecoming.
