News Article: Willie Williams Ready to Be Drafted

Many message boards including ours had a lot of fun at the expense of Willie Williams it was easy to joke about his misadventures. I read another article about Willie earlier that echoed what this one said, Willie has learned and has been humbled by his mistakes. Willie may have to become a free agent but I wish him good luck and future success with his life.

Remember the Bush doctrine of preemption? I suspect that we will soon see Roger Goodell issue a preemptive suspension of Williams for violating the league's conduct policy.

At any rate, Williams clearly has elite raw talent, but it's hard to see him ever becoming anything more than training camp fodder after all that he has been through.

I'll be pulling for him, though. I know he has plenty of problems in his past, but nothing beats a good redemption story, and if nothing more it's a small wonder he's still alive to do all that he is doing.

Here's how things have turned out for Willie thus far...

He didn't get drafted, obviously. But he'd hoped to sign a free agent contract with the Packers. However, the Packers have decided not to sign trouble-prone former University of Miami blue-chip linebacker recruit Willie Williams.
Union College (Ky.) school officials had announced that Williams would be joining the Packers. However, the Packers have apparently changed their mind.
Williams was reportedly arrested 11 times in high school, and for possession of marijuana after transferring to Louisville.
Williams’ lengthy list of schools attended includes: Miami, a Los Angeles junior college, Louisville and Glenville State.
He registered 144 tackles and was named all-conference last season at Union, an NAIA football program.

I'll try to keep you guys updated as I get more information.
