VCU's Anthony Grant, one of the hot names on the coaching carousel yet again, is much more of a fit at Georgia than Alabama. As Sanderson said, Georgia is a job where the players are in place while the passion at Alabama can certainly be more intense

What does that mean?

Honestly...I don't know. Maybe someone should call up Wimp during his show and ask him.

I have had my hopes up with the possibility of hiring a coach to really energize the fans and get us excited for basketball again and Mike Anderson is the guy I wanted because of the style of play is so exciting.

But, I just read where Earle said he thinks Anderson is off the board and I've read on a couple of other sites that said Frank Haith and Oliver Purnell were leading candidates...and to be honest, neither one of those guys interests me in the least little bit.

I can't really say any more than I've said. I still have to rate him an outside chance but not beyond the realm of possibility...

You're such a tease. ;)

I still remember getting laughed out of a Christmas party when I guaranteed Nick Saban would be Alabama's HC. Money talks folks and I think, like many others on this site who know roundball, the next hire's salary is going to clearly signal how badly the University wants bball to be relevant again. I also stand by that CNS is largely behind the push to get the right guy because he doesn't want to send recruits to watch bball games where 4,000 fans are watching a poor product representing the same institution he is trying to promote.

I'm speculating here, but I'd think that the reason CMA seems to trailing, if not completely out, is the academic and other problems his players had at UAB. He appears to be trying to clean up that part of his act at UM, but the weakest parts of his performance were exposed up close and personal to some very powerful people. Probably his misfortune. Let me add that a deal has not been cut yet, no matter what you may hear from other sources. Everyone's circling around the primary four or so names which have made the cut. One of them is not mentioned very much, but he and Izzo, IMO, are the longest shots. If I ventured a single name now, I'd probably be wrong. Also, it's far from impossible that a name would come in from left field, although I don't expect that at this point...

So, lets take a guess at Earle's final 4........

Izzo (one of the longshots)
Purnell (hope I am wrong)

guys, who do you think are the other two?
Floyd???

If your notion on CNS is right, and I hope you are, then one would have to conclude that Tom Izzo's stock has gone up IF HE IS INTERESTED based on the two's past friendship. I hope Izzo and Anderson are the two we are after the most.

Ok Earle......instead of telling us the list.........just tell us everyone that's not on the list......and we'll take it from there.

Re: Why no discussion about the Butler coach?

Brad Stevens is a young up and comer that has his team in the top 10 (much of the year). LAst night a freshman led the team to a "ROAD" win over Detroit.

His team is 20-2 in Horizon Conference. I believe that is where TN coach originated.

He has good basketball background and it is clear he knows what he is doing by his record over the last few years.

If someone knows why he is not on the list, please elaborate.
Moss, you are looking like a genius right now.
