With Eddie Lacy being a Jr, does he stay for his Sr. year?

Lately, we have had runningback after runningback. My biggest fear is how our game is with losing Barrett jones this year. He is such an asset to the team. Just the leadership alone and his integrity, will surely be missed.

So we will see how the running game is effected next year.

I think he leaves. He's a great RB but I don't think he has anything to gain by staying(as far as being drafted). The carries are being split up pretty well so I don't see him having anymore of an opportunity next year than he has now....JMO.

First off, anyone saying Lacy is a first rounder may need to look into how the draft works these says. Trent is the best back to come out of college since Adrian Peterson and people still think it was a reach to take him so high...that's just the state of the NFL. Teams would rather platoon backs... Lacy has a shot at being a 2nd or 3rd round pick possibly, and if that happens he has to jump imo. It benefits both parties in that case. If he projects as a late rounder things could get interesting.
I agree with this. I wonder what his 40 time is/would be?

His health - or rather the lack of good health - may be a big factor in his decision. His performances so far aren't exactly shooting him up the board but his durability might dictate taking the pay day this April instead of taking a chance of ending his career with a senior season.

I think he might have a hard time breaking 1,000 yards this year. He might not get to showcase what he can do. The problem is that next year he won't get a lot of carries either.

I say if he is a projected 1st round pick, than he needs to go. Most running backs only last 6-8 years anyways. I just hope he can stay healthy.

Previously posted that McShay has Eddie (or Ed as McShay calls him) as the #5 RB in the draft. Isaiah Pead was the fifth RB taken in this year's draft at #50 (Second round). His contract was reported to be 4 years, $4 million with $2 mill guaranteed. If that is what Eddie can get, he should go.

The problem is that unless something changes there is a very good chance that evaluators start to realize that this isn't the Eddie from last year (yet).

It will depend on the rest of the season. If he plays like he did against Ark for the rest of the year he will go Pro. I hope that is the case BTW.

Hey Tidefans, I see where EL is a junior and wonder if he stays or goes pro. If he stays for his Sr. year, will this affect the RBs that are committed for 2013? I have been so impressed with the RBs this year. EL,TJY,DH and especially K. Drake. Drake and Yeldon have the potential to be as good as Ingram and Richardson before leaving the Capstone. I'm new here so forgive me if I don't know all the protocols. I'd love to hear your input!

:) ROLL TIDE :)
yes he'll stay...

he only has so many carries....might as well get paid in the NFL
Not to derail the thread, but I believe this to be a huge selling point for BAMA recruits and a luxury that Saban has worked hard to offer. When top recruits constantly here "you can be the starter from day #1", I personally think they should run the other direction. Sure you need some playing time to show off your talent and improve, but each RB has a limited number of carries they have. As you stated.... might as well get paid for them.

If he gets things going, and has a season similar to Glen Coffee in 2008, I could see him leaving early. There is a lot of young talent behind him, and more on the way, vying for playing time. It is similar to what Glen Coffee was looking at when deciding his future in 2009.

I'm not sure it really matters what he does this year. If he is healthy enough after the season to go and do well at the NFL combine then he will probably go. With all the talent we are going to have at rb next year it won't benefit him to come back. He is a tremendously talented rb but so are all the rest and carries will be split among many.
