I would tend to agree. Looking at this offer list this is not someone you would see signing a scholarship with Bama. He is a 200m track guy so it looks like he can run and may can develop into somebody that contributes. Welcome and RTR J'Kolbe.I believe I read he was a preferred walk-on...
On the other hand, you won a championship in 2015 because of a Drake KO return for a TD.It would be nice not to have to risk a starter on those ST return duties. I know I cringed every time Smitty was returning one. I think we lost Kenyon Drake on a KO return and Eddie Jackson on a punt return.
Agreed on the risk/reward. When we score TD's it is all good but when a guy gets hurt it is all bad. We all know what side of the equation Saban is on so our best players are going to play on the return/special teams.Another good example. When Waddle was the “fourth” receiver, it was less risk to the WR corps if he was injured. This year, it could have been a problem. Fortunately, it was not. Some feel that when Eddie Jackson went down, it may have cost Bama a championship. I guess it is a matter of risk/reward.
