It would be nice not to have to risk a starter on those ST return duties. I know I cringed every time Smitty was returning one. I think we lost Kenyon Drake on a KO return and Eddie Jackson on a punt return.

A fair point. Just saying if; and that’s a big if, someone like this could develop into a good return specialist, Bama wouldn’t necessarily have to risk a starter at another position. All this is merely speculation concerning a 3 star who accepted a preferred walk-on spot. Saban usually stocks ST units with a significant group of starters. I don’t expect him to change now. 😁

Another good example. When Waddle was the “fourth” receiver, it was less risk to the WR corps if he was injured. This year, it could have been a problem. Fortunately, it was not. Some feel that when Eddie Jackson went down, it may have cost Bama a championship. I guess it is a matter of risk/reward.

Agreed on the risk/reward. When we score TD's it is all good but when a guy gets hurt it is all bad. We all know what side of the equation Saban is on so our best players are going to play on the return/special teams.
