The latest on North Florida Christian standout WR Melvin Ray is that he remains solid in his commitment and he is sold on the Crimson Tide. Ray recently said that he commited to Bama because of the love he got from the coaches, players on the team and the fans. He said the Alabama facilities are top notch, the stadium is crazy, and Alabama has shown him non-stop interest since the 10th grade. Check out his latest slam dunk performance on the basketball court.

Ray's late free throw lifts NFC past Maclay
North Florida Christian's Melvin Ray is no stranger to high-pressure situations. But perhaps none so nerve-racking as the one he faced Friday night.

Ray stood on the free-throw line with his team and archrival Maclay tied. Only 1.3 seconds remained on the game clock. Ray's options were simple: make one of two free throws, and leave as a sure hero. Miss, and risk overtime against a red-hot Maclay team that had battled back from an 11-point first-half deficit.

The problem with EXMS wasn't that he couldn't recruited, cause he was a solid recruiter (or had a solid recruiting staff), he landed some nice---if not unspectular talent---like DJ Hall, L. McClain, Arenas, Grant, Ford---even tho he didn't qualify---Johns, Stover, blah, blah, blah....the problem I had was--like Gottfried---he can't coach his own recruits. If Shula had been able to coach up his recruits....he would still have the job at Alabama.

Just come to Bama and be the FIRST YOU! Why be someone else. Make everyone want to come to Bama in the future and be like you. Make a name for yourself.

Speaking of Ray, by the way, he is definitely a solid 'Bama guy. I thought we'd have a fight on our hands from FSU, but even with the full-court press put on him by the 'Noles, Ray is still bleeding crimson. No concerns whatsoever of losing this guy.

He has also been saying that we would have a couple of big surprises on NSD to get excited about. Hopefully he is right.

I'm sure the commited recruits know more about where uncommited recruits are leaning more than anyone else. They seem to stay in constant contact with the uncommited guys and do ALOT of recruiting for Bama!

True. The fact of the matter is that most of these guys probably know where they are going at this point. Ray would certainly be in a position where he would know that sort of stuff.

I'm hoping one of those surprises he is referring to is T.J. Bryant.

Melvin Ray mentioned in an interview Tuesday that he was finished with visits and is 100% firm to Bama. He also hinted that Bama fans are in for a pleasant surprise on NSD on a couple of big-time prospects. I think he knows something we don't!!
