WWL: Perilloux Suspended Indefinitely

You initialized M. Vick...but I would say more like MARCUS that Mike. At least Mike waited until he was already a go-zillionaire before he went completely stupid. Marcus...and apparently RP...couldn't wait long enough to make it worth their while.:p_eyes:
It would probably be more accurate to say that Mike Vick made his gazillion before he got caught.

It's a sad situation. Clearly the kid has had issues off the field which has led him to his current position. But the loss of a father and the suspension can lead to the kind of despair the can cause a kid to say f the whole deal and go into a downward spiral.

Here's hoping he gets some help, and more importantly accepts it. Because purely as a football fan, his kind of talent is a terrible thing to waste and if he isn't careful, life will eat him up.

It would be a shame to just throw away all the talent that this guy has. Even though he plays for one of our rivals, I hope he gets his priorities in order.

-1- I'm reserving judgement until we get more facts, but it doesn't look good. -2- LSU does give excused absences for sickness and death in the family.

FWIW, Ricky Jean Francios was suspended indefinitely, and it ended up being the whole season, he came back for the SEC and NC game, but that was academic issues.

Again, I'll reserve judgement until we know more, but at the very least, RP is showing severe bad judgement. -3- How can you be one of the leaders of the team and pull this stuff.

And, does Miles want to invest in him, only to have him screw up and really leave his teammates in a bind in the middle of next season
?

1 - That's why I've been hesitant to post on this one .

2 - So will the nazis . They gave J.Davidson a just break after the car accident .

3 - IMO , your team will be much better off if les cuts the cord .

I know we haven't heard much about the Lee kid and he has no game experience but , he was widely considered to be a quality prospect . It should make for an extremely interesting battle this Spring since Crowton has obviously been high on the Hatch kid from back when he was at BYU . Both are Mormons and Crowton sort of "guided" Hatch to Harvard when BYU canned him .

Good Lord!! LCN and I are in complete agreement!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I hope the young man has done nothing that will stop him from being reinstated.

(1) Because, like all athletes at his level, he has worked his whole life to get to where he is and he stands at the brink of being able to make that last step to the NFL. No matter who he plays for he deserves that.

(2) When we beat LSU (maybe this year, certainly next) I want them to be fully loaded, no excuses.

I doubt he's had to "work" as hard as a lot of guys that are less talented who make it to D-1. RP is a super talented kid with GOD GIVEN skills that he didn't have to put much work into for them to greatly benefit him. If his success hinged off of him truly having to work hard and be disciplined he'd probably never made it to LSU. His behavior shows how "hard" he works.

Not trying to be rude, but...I'm glad. Other teams will have better chances now...that is, if he's suspended for next season...
He's not going to miss next season, Ugo. He won't even miss spring practice. Les never comments on internal team discipline, of course, but word trickling out from players and assistants is that this isn't that big of a deal. Perrilloux missed a mandatory meeting a few days after the championship game and several classes and scheduled workouts in the last month. Distracted by his ill father or not, he failed to talk with his coaches about it and get excused.

RP is not really in Les' doghouse but the suspension was to get his attention in the off-season. "they wanted to stop the snow-ball before it turned into an avalanche" is how one guy put it.

But then, while Les and Perrilloux were both out of town, some blogger goes online with some wild bull story about Perrilloux's Mom trying to "shake down" LSU and Les dismissing him from the team. By the next day there were stories that Perrilloux had stormed out and quit the team. The stories got crazier all day yesterday. RP was transferring to Div-IAA, RP feared Pryor was signing with LSU, RP was in legal trouble, and on and on.

It's why it's best to take blogger rumors with a lot of skepticism and wait until a principal goes on the record. But even the credible media jump the gun sometimes, remember HerbStreit and "Miles is the new coach at Michigan". TideFans is fortunate to have mods who keep the rampant rumormongering under control.

Here's another Link
They missed one though wasn't he suspended for the fight at the bar when the walk on was kicked off?

I agree I always want our opponent at their best and of course us.

After the fake ID situation RP was basically put on an "Action plan" by Miles. The "plan" was basically "This is what you have to do to stay in good graces." Part of that was going to class, NOT missing workouts and missings nor being late for them. Since this has been a frequent problem with RP. The players do talk and there is a local eating establishment that many of them frequently eat at and seems to be where a lot of the "inside information" from the players gets released.

I don't know how Miles will handle this but I don't know how he couldn't be tee'd off and this not be a big deal on some level when the missing practices, going to class, attendance and punctuality to meetings, workouts etc., were apart of the "second chance deal".

But at this point I think a lot of information being leaked is mixed with made up stuff and truth. But one thing that has been consistent no matter the outlet reporting it is that he has violated some terms of what he agreed to after the casino, fake ID episode.

Like I said he won't miss a day of practice, miles is not going to start a Harvard QB or a freshman and we all KNOW it. I do not think RP is anywhere near the talent that Mauck and Flynn was so it really does not matter.

I too want them at full strength come game time, we will field one of the best teams we have had in over a decade this year even with all of the freshman that should be playing. The key is we play them late in the year and hopefully the players will be "gelled" by then and JPW has his head right with some sort of running game we could be a decent team this year!!

We had a pretty good team in 1999 and we've still got a lot of MAJOR MAJOR questions to answer before we start talking about fielding a very good team.

I agree less talented players that reach the D-1 level are all over achievers and therefore have to work much harder to get there. But, no matter how much "God given talent" this young man has he worked his way up to this level.

I guess it all boils down to your definition of "work". Having been closely associated with many scholarship athletes, some very talented and some less talented over achievers, I have never seen anyone make it just sitting around. It takes a lot of work and dedication no matter who the player is or how reprehensible his behavior is.

That said, Perilloux seems to have a lot of character flaws and I have never liked or supported this type of player. I believe that he may, one day, undermine his God given talent. But, in the mean time, most LSU fans that I have talked to think he will be the one to lead them to their next NC. I want him there when the Tide Rolls over the Tigers so there will be no excuses.

And they are probably right. They should be loaded back up to make a serious run at it in 09. We're looking at 09 as well when we're contending for an SEC title but LSU is going to be a monster as well.

I agree with you there but don't you just love the images of Bama-vs-LSU not just for the SEC championship but, possibly, for the NC in just two short years.

It may be home town wishful thinking, time will tell. But, as of now, I couldn't have scripted a better scenario.

These youg'uns are going to have make enormous strides between their freshman year and sophomore year in 09 if we want to truly compete. The SEC is just getting god awful tough and LSU, Georgia & Florida will be making some SERIOUS SERIOUS noise for a BCS Title in 09. It's going to be tough.
