My daughter walked down the aisle 30 minutes before kickoff of the Alabama vs LSU game and I had to give her away. It was her day and I let her have it. I stayed for the whole reception, at least till the Bride and Groom drove away in their Limo then we grabbed some leftovers and headed for my son's house about ten minutes from the chapel to catch the last couple minutes of the first half and all the second half. If it was just a friend I might just make an appearance and drop off a gift. If it was a very good friend I might stay for the wedding then split. Since it was my daughter I let her have her day it's the least a father can do for his only daughter.

so heres my question, is it considered poor taste to listen to the radio during a wedding?
I have two younger brothers both of which are die hard Alabama fans also.

My youngest brother got married on September 24, 2005 which was the day of the Alabama-Arkansas. His bride of course picked the date. This game was an 11:30 kick-off. There was a tv in the reception area so we could watch the game. The thing is we had to be in the church to take pictures at 11:00 a.m. We missed most of the first half.

The wedding started at 1:30 p.m. We had be in the sanctuary in the church 45 minutes before the wedding to seat people. Long story short we got to watch a couple of minutes of the second quarter and some of the third quarter and that was it.

After the wedding we had to stay in the sanctuary to take more pictures before going to the reception. My brother (the one that was not getting married) and I stayed in the sanctuary of the church after the wedding with headphones on. We didn't care what anyone thought about it.

This game went down to the wire. Alabama won the game 24-13, but late in the fourth quarter Alabama lead 17-13. Arkansas had the ball at midfield and was driving. Alabama forced at turnover and my brother and I started yelling and screaming. Everyone of course knew we were listening to the game and just laughed. Brodie threw a TD pass to DJ Hall after the turnover to seal the game and we started yelling and screaming again.

I threatened my single brother and told him if he got married during football season when an Alabama game was being played, I would not attend the wedding.

It was torture not being able to watch this game. I cannot imagine what it would be like to not be able to watch a game the magnitude of Alabama-Florida for the SEC championship that will send the winner to the BCSCG.

My advice to all would-be brides out there who are engaged to some sucker BAMA Football or other College Football fan:
DO NOT GET MARRIED IN THE FALL! That's what the summer is for!
Winter and Spring are OK, just not that first week of January! LOL :D

If I ever get married, I'm going to let my fiancee know WAY ahead of time that last week of August to first week of December are OFF LIMITS!

This sounds more like a civil union, no self respecting man would make wedding plans on this day. Episcapalian?

who in their right mind schedules a wedding during football season? Skip most of the reception, I've done it. There was no beer, no tv, and no radio at the one I went to. I stayed long enough to be seen & eat a snack & got out. :)
Listened to the 2nd quarter on the way home & got home during the 3rd to drink a beer.
Seriously, even if the bride isn't a fan, you'd think she would know better!!
Spring and summer are for weddings!! No way would I have scheduled mine for fall!!
