Your first Bama Game

My first game was 92 against Vandy. I was very mad because David Palmer was suspended. My second game was the 93 UT game and safe to say I was hooked on going to games ever since. Dont get to go much anymore but I hardly turn the chance down;)

Mine was in 1997 (I think) v. arkansas in Little Rock. Actually was the first major college game I had ever attended. I think we were #11 at the time. I just remember some pig fan kept yelling, " I guess that's how you get to be #11" every time a call went against them. We were actually losing or it was close late and when we went ahead and put it away, I turned and said, "No, THAT'S why we are #11!! And now it is only going to get better." Yeah, he didn't like that too much. I've made it a point to travel to at least one game a season since but I have only made it to T-town one time. That will change soon however.

Do you remember Mark and Brian's "My Girl" parody "My Bo" on the radio Monday morning after the game?
"...that Bo Jackson ran the wrong way!"

I can't tell you how much I'd love to have a copy of that.

The very next week, the Tide lost to Mississippi State by a score of 6-3 in Jackson, and we have not be ranked #1 during the regular season since then.

An old girlfriend and I drove over to Jackson on a whim for that game, bought scalped tickets outside the stadium. Things I remember about that game was that Jesse Bendross was wide open at least three times and Jacobs over threw him. Plus the end zone was all tore up with construction. And there were plenty of tickets being scalped before kick-off.

It was 1971, Alabama vs. Miami. Alabama had beaten LSWho the week before with Johnny Musso hurt (he had turf toe). We played Auburn the following week. Musso was my favorite player, but as luck would have it he wouldn't play in the very first game I saw Bama play. BTW the game was in Tuscaloosa. When the players ran out before kickoff I noticed that No. 22 wasn't even dressed out. Then there was a rumble across the stadium as a lone figure walked out of the dressing room in street clothes, yep it was Musso. You could feel the electricity in the air. I didn't get to see Musso run all over the Hurricanes that day, but I did see a young running back with a crazy number run wild that day--- No. 80 Wilbur Jackson. What a day for a kid from Gadsden who was only 11 years old.

1982 Alabama VS Mississippi State in Jackson Mississippi.
It was Alabama’s first trip back to Jackson since the unbelievable 6 to 3 loss to MSU in 1980.
My friend’s sister and her husband (they are BIG MSU fans) had bought a bunch of MSU tickets and asked if I would want to go with them to see State play Alabama.
I jumped on the chance!!!
The trip down to Jackson on the Natchez trace was rowdy as I was the only Alabama fan in the car I caught heck!!!
I was only 14 but I was still a rather large guy so they didn’t get too bad.
After the game, the ride home was completely silent.
They would look at me and I would just smile.
After about an hour they couldn’t stand it and asked why I wasn’t rubbing it in.
I simply said that it took them 23 years to beat us last time and that I didn’t want to start rubbing it in and have to do it for 23 more years because im kind of lazy.
They haven’t asked me back to a game although we do extend tail gaiting invitations to each other.
I guess I should have rubbed it in a little because it only took MSU 15 years to beat us again!

I cannot for the life of me remember who we were playing or my age at the time, but I remember that we won. I also remember that I was watching Joe Namath pass so I guess that would put me somewhere in the "older than dirt" category.

My first game was the UCLA game in 2001.

That was my first game too. Not a great game to start with since we lost plus it was fRan's first year. :o

My second game was the 2003 Oklahoma game. :mad2: Then Northern Illinois. :conf2: We kept losing every time I went to a game, and I started to think I was a bad luck charm....until the '05 Florida and UThug games. :) Two of the best days of my life.

I believe it was '63 or '64 at Ladd Stadium in Mobile against Tulane. If I remember correctly, Namath didn't play in the game but I can't remember if it was one of the games he was suspended or he was injured.

1982 Bama VS Cincinatti

Bryant had the offensive line practicing during half time because of the weak first half performance.

1973 Iron Bowl. My buddy and I were in High School and didn't have tickets (and no money). Outside Legion Field, someone gave us a student ticket. My buddy went through the gate without having to show student ID, and the attendant didin't tear the stub. He handed it to me back through the fence, and I too got through.

We beat the barners 35-0....... What a glorious occasion! (The previous year was the infamous 17-16 punt-Bama-punt debacle, so revenge was sweet).

I started school that summer at the Capstone....... How sweet the 70's:!!!!!!:)

Nov 78--Legion Field--bama vs mississippi state. Bama was ranked third at the time and defeated msu 35-14. Tony Nathan rushed for 145 yards that day. Interestingly enough, MSU QB Dave Marler had 428 yards passing in the losing effort. Alabama moved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the SEC with the win and would continue to win out in the rest of their games and they captured another NC (capped with their 14-7 win against PSU in the Sugar Bowl in Jan).

my first two games were against two recent powrs, the first was at Denny stadium against vpi(now virginia tech) about '73, Bama set all kinds of records including I believe 13 ball carriers in route to a 77 - 6 'W'. my second was against the team with the nations longest losing streak florida st, and Bama was ranked #2 in the country. thanks to I believe 8 turnovers we were behind 7-3 with about 2 minutes in the game. I remember we stopped fsu deep in their own territory and instead of risking a blocked punt, they elected to take a safety on 4th down, we got the ball back and drove it down the field and Bucky Berry nailed a 40 or so yard field goal to win the game 8 to 7 roll tide

'88 or '89, coming back from a Cross Country meet that was either at Mt. Brook or from the State meet, which was held in B'ham at an old black golf course over off Oxmoor Rd near Homewood C of C. Anyway, I think it might have been homecoming, but I can't remember who we played.

I am so ready for the season to start.

I believe it must have been 1981 at BDS Bama played Witchita State Shockers. It wasn't much of a game of course but justing getting to be there was a treat enough for me.

I remember seeing coach Bryant standing on one end of the field, like he often did before the game started. During the game, Major Oglevie ran to my side of the field and was face masked to to the point that his helmet was completely turned around on his head.

First game at BDS was against UCLA in 2001. I attended a few games at Legion field in the early 90s. Other than that, the games I attended were road games at Ole Miss, MSU, and LSU a number of different times.
