Note: if a mod wants to remove the phrase "after week 3," we can keep this as a running thread rather than have it every single week.
====================================
Two notes on my ratings: where it comes to the TOP of the rankings, a defending champion holds the position until that team is beaten REGARDLESS. Doesn't matter how good or bad they look, to BE the man you gotta BEAT the man. I was the same way in 2011 when it was clear Auburn was not near as good with Cam Newton as they were with him.
Teams 2-10 in my rankings are based on WHAT THEY HAVE DONE, not where I think they will finish in December. So I will ignore anyone who says, "Are you kidding, Oklahoma would ROLL Iowa!" because that's not what this is.
1) Alabama - defending champion has not lost and knocked off a highly touted foe.
2) Georgia - right now the eye test indisputably puts UGA and Alabama in the top two spots. The shine is off the Clemson win for UGA, all things being equal.
3) Oklahoma - for once they looked more like what you expect them to be
4) Cincinnati - won't stay here due to their schedule, but this is an odd year so far.
5) Iowa - next week's game with Penn State now looms large.
6) Penn State - I'm still not sold on them, but they have to be in the Top Ten - and because they beat Auburn, they do have to be higher than Ohio State for now.
7) Oregon - they're not this good, but they still have a win over Ohio State despite their other struggles. Yeah, it was a fluke, but they still won.
8) Ohio State - appears to be coming together a bit better; still "wait and see" with them.
9) Michigan - is going to lose at least three games, but they're one of the unbeatens right now.
10) Auburn - yeah, I know, weird isn't it? If you have a first-year coach and an iffy quarterback, nearly lose to a team you should blow out right after a close loss to a ranked team, and have the potential to gel at the right time - and your two biggest foes play in your pad - you absolutely must be Auburn. I fully expect them to beat Georgia next week, simply because I pay attention to trends. Georgia is undoubtedly more talented than Auburn, but do not be surprised if JHS Voodoo makes another appearance.
