Got some new orchids yesterday. All Dendrobiums!

Came bare root or in very small pots - standard procedure for mail order - so I re-potted them this morning.

One came with an intact bloom spike! 'Hawaiian Punch'!

Not _my personal_ window on the world but we got to do a private tour of the late Fr. Hesburgh's office at Notre Dame (my daughter is a freshman there) this weekend and took some pics of some great views. He was the president of ND from 1952-1987 and was responsible for a LOT of what ND is today and how it looks (they built 40+ new buildings during his tenure and became a top academic school). His office was above "Touchdown Jesus" on the top floor of the library looking down on the campus.

Isiah and crew at Discovery Whale Watch - Monterey showed us a great time on a sunset cruise. Unfortunately, I just missed capturing any of the whales breaching - one of them was maybe 100 yards away a couple minutes after this pic.

Some interesting detail on this one, if you take a minute to look closely.......

Flew around Monterey and over to the Salinas Valley and back. Ceilings dropped before clearing up for a while.

A little later and down the coast a bit (on the ground) it was overcast and misting.



But we did get to see the calla lilies a few minutes and a few miles later. Micro climates are the thing here.
