Your window on your world? - Part 2

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

One of my accounts has 7 Cabbage Palms that are way too tall for me to prune, so I hire someone to do that once a year - typically in late July after the bloom spikes have emerged.

I've used the same guy now for the last 5 years and all has gone OK, although his communication skills are almost non-existent. Luckily I only need him once a year so has been tolerable.

Well this year he was only able to prune the 6 palms in the front due to problems getting a climber to do the one in back where a lift cannot go. So this one palm in back has since formed fruit and has been making a mess while I await him to find a solution to the problem.

Finally I found a guy myself off Nextdoor and he came today and got that one palm done and going forward I'm giving him the palm pruning for all of the palms.

Good guy - in his 30's, has wife and 3 kids, works full time at Publix for the past 10 years, and does this tree work to supplement his income. Excellent communication skills - very dependable - and did a good job.

Do you eat the fruit?

The Gulf Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillarisare) are in full bloom right now - and have been for the past few weeks. They bloom like this only once a year. Quite a show!

A really excellent landscape plant. A native to the Eastern US, very low maintenance, and provides a nice contrast in form and texture to the rest of the plantings.
