I live in Knoxville and I just finished watching a local weekly TV show on UT sports. They briefly talked about how UT football coaches are telling recruits that Tennessee will be "USC east". My wife is a huge UT fan, but we both couldnt help but laugh at the audacity of this. I cant help but wonder how they could possibly think that is a good recruiting technique. For one thing, how many recruits over here really LIKE USC? And considering this staff hasnt coached a practice, much less a game, can you say "blowing smoke??"

I along with everyone else is going to ridicule them to death next season when they flop.

If you go on their boards you will see rumblings of them thinking they will be contenders in the SECCG next season if they "get past" FL. I guess the rest of the teams lost to UT last year, or have they forgot its more than just FL they play? I laughed for a good while at that thread. Haven't even played a down or practiced yet and the heads are already on cloud 9.

Auburn for years has believed they are The University Of Alabama EAST.
I have a lot of family that are barnies and this time last year they were all telling me they had passed Bama and were a top five program, Just to keep peace i kept my mouth shut and went about my business. Now they refuse to talk football with me at all. Every once and a while i can hear them in the corner crying like a pack of rats waiting on the exterminator to kick the door down.

I wonder if they'll still use this tactic next year when they're playing in the Stay at home bowl.

Maybe the NZAA has given them the go-ahead to let players receive $200,000 in benefits without the NZAA interfering. :eek2:

So does that mean that next year we'll finally find out how USC would do in a real conference? ;)

It is an honor simply to play them next year. In fact, just living in the same state as the coaching staff makes me feel better about myself.

Didn't oregeron make that same statement when he was at Ole Miss

Its really just a rediculous statement because Tennessee can't even dominate their own division of the SEC let alone the entire region as a whole. and for that matter if USC were in the Southeast they would be just another super power. We will continue to own them, as will Florida

Talk is cheap.
LOl you're right on that. it's funny how a lot of "talk" is coming out of UT about how they're going to change the program and all Saban did was come in and put in a lot of "hard work" and demand the same from his players ...

I mean, why be the USC of the east? What, being UT is not good enough?

Funny how Kiffin wants the other SEC coaches to take notice. Darn shame Coach Saban, Meyers, Richt, Spurrier, and Miles just could care less. Lane Kiffin and the fans can talk are the stupid they want but it will not change the fact ut has never dominated the SEC much less its on Eastern Division. Florida is top dog in the East and that will not change anytime soon.

Funny after next season IF Coach Meyer leaves for ND, John Gruden could take over at Florida the ut fans will lose what mind they have left.

First off, the state of Tennessee can't hold a candle to California, talent-wise.

Secondly, UT has a decent amount of tradition. Why, as a program would you abandon that to say you're now trying to be a pretender?

Tennessee has a fine tradition and if is was not for Bama, they would be #1 all time (football) in the SEC.
