Browsing rival boards

If it wasn't for opinions, message boards would not exist.I recently browsed and posted on Volnation. I try to be civil but geez its hard when the people are just that ignorant.
I know when you go to a rival board that is the way it seems. The overwhelming majority of posters are looking at things through their particular teams glasses. Some are really overboard. This happens on ALL boards. You also have your group of posters that try and look at things logically.
IMO, the most frustrating thing about looking at other boards or having rivals posting on your own board is the following:
-When you post on a rivals board it is frustrating when people bash and belittle you just because you are a fan of school X. It really ticks me off when you cannot get a sensible conversation just because you cheer for a certain school. That does not happen much, but it does happen.
-When a "troll" posts on your home board and just tries to stir the pot. Here at TideFans, the mod team does one heck of a job at keeping that from happening.
One thing that makes this board one of my favorites is the mod team. I don't necessarily agree with all opinions posted here, but the mod team does not allow much bickering and that is GREAT! The mods do great at not allowing threads to get out of hand here. Volnation will let a lot of stuff go, although they do a decent job.
Anyway, just my opinions. I post at Volnation and Tidefans...IMO, the 2 best SEC boards...and maybe national boards. I just "lurk" at other boards and only look for particular subject.
Anyway, golf tournament starts in an hour. Orange & White game at 3, not attending it though. Today is my birthday, officially an old man today. I am also curious to see what the attendance of the A-day game is. Good luck guys and please keep Tidefans a friendly place!
I post on AUNATION and have the same opinion. You can't tell them folks anything and only Bama cheats according to them and every time they have been caught by the NCAA, Bama set them up. I will give it to them, they haven't booted me yet and I get into some heated debates with them folks.
I visit the barn boards and lswho boards sometimes. You gotta be careful though, you don't want over-exposure to too much stupidity, but they are good for laughs sometimes. For instance, I ventured over onto an Aubie board last night...some of their stuff was hilarious. They must not have too many posters on the board I was on, the threads were kinda old.
Anyway, I read a posters comments and he actually typed the word 'rurn'.

I like rival boards, which is why I volutarily take my hazing here every year ; )
It's not fun, IMO, to just read and talk to people who share your opinion...That's why I even talk to liberals on occasion :biggrin:

Lol, you gotta have a thick skin if you're going to post on a rival board, for sure. You're good peeps, Tennessee. VolFan, too. Sort of.
On a related note, I joined the TF Facebook page, so everybody can put my smiling face to the enemy
I use to post on a Vol message board and they were all brutal. This is my place and will always be my place. The UT fans up here constantly rip on BAMA fans and their team and the State of Alabama on radio and on message boards. I never knew that UT hated us so much till i moved up here. I think i'm getting homesick.:mad2::BigA:

I love to discuss college football with rival fans at work, among friends, even with a passing stranger in public, since most people in those situations keep it civil and (the ones I talk to) have a pretty good football knowledge.
Message boards are another matter. Civility doesn't seem to matter, and you get a lot of juvenile attitudes. I only lurk on rival boards to get a feel or the other perspective.
