Bringing Kilcrease into the game this early was a poor decision by Coach Wells. He is strictly a short reliever (no pun intended), capable of pitching effectively for no more than a couple of innings at a time. Once he starts getting fatigued, losing any velocity and elevating his fastball, he becomes batting practice. Being 5'5, he has very little margin for error to begin with, as his fastball is always thrown on a single plane. Kilcrease is simply the antithesis of an innings-eating workhorse. Does Wells realize this? Apparently not.
Should have given the ball to Morgan instead. Or started Morgan and brought Scott out of the pen first.
