Link: Update: OT Jawuan James Commits To Tennessee

Re: OT Jawuan James Update (9/28)

This has Lance Thompson's finger prints all over it. The probation excuse is not legitimate at this point.

If James was truthful with the reporter, he would say something like "I'm a little scared of all the competition for playing time I'd be facing over in Tuscaloosa."

Never thought about the Lance Thompson connection--your analogy I would say is 100% correct.

For those of you that like to follow the recruiting, it is being reported that Jawuan James has committed to Tennessee tonight, per James Bryant with Scout.

Good pickup for the vomiteers considering how desperately they need linemen. I wish him well, when he isn't playing Bama of course.

He was worried about text books wonder how he feels about armed robbery.

Eh, I'm sure the textbook situation didn't help, but honestly I figure the playing time issue was just as big of a deal, if not bigger. He'd never own up to that, of course, but it's obvious that it was an issue.

With Carpenter, Fluker, Love, etc. around Tuscaloosa, he probably wasn't going to be able to start until 2011 at the earliest, and probably not until 2012 or 2013. He goes to Knoxville and he probably starts next year.

:BigA:All 3 of the offensive linemen we are currently recruiting are rated higher than James by Rivals. We may have slacked off on him because of the numbers! I had rather have Arie. Stone or Robinison! He probably would rather have playing time than the competetion he would face at Bama! It is best to get players that come in and feel they can earn a spot regardless of the competetion!

I also believe that we are better off without him. CNS/gang are into developing these young men to be the best they can possible be. IMO, if he (James) is not ready to go through the process---see you between the lines when Bama visit Tenn next year.

Didn't he de-committ because he wasn't comfortable with our recent probationary period being lengthened? I find it a little ironic that the week he committs to Tennessee, the army robbery happens...

Unless I'm missing something, we're not back on "probation".

This kid wanted immediate playing time and he'll probably get it at UT. However, I hope he's ready for a baptism by fire. Very few true freshmen are really ready for the SEC.

We got probation for the textbook incident......2 years, I think.
