3 UT players arrested last night

UT Wildboyz...

Definitely a shame. I agree that it's sad to see kids throw their lives away, but I don't feel for them. When you're that age, you just know better. Really is a shame.

They'll be gone for a good amount of years if convicted. Being homesick and team rules are now the least of their worries.

One other thing, I'd imagine it's a pretty natural thing for some players to not show discipline and good judgment when they see that their coach shows neither as well.

I will not gloat about this one because it is truly sad. I wonder if Jackson had come to The University of Alabama would the more disciplined minded Coach Saban have kept him out of trouble. The drinking thing to me was kids being kids but this is a "Oh My God He Did What". What a waste. funny nothing like this ever happened under Fat Phil.

Surprisingly murder is not the crime for which people spend the longest period of time in prison. Statistically, the crime for which one will spend the most time in jail is armed robbery. If that is indeed the crime they have been charged with and if they are convicted they will, IF their sentence is consistent with national averages, spend 92 months in prison. That's a little over 7 1/2 years. Good Gracious...what a mess.

Yep, I found this out after a couple of my cousins got convicted in Mobile a few weeks ago. They do not play when it comes to armed robbery.

I don't want to sound too harsh here, but if it isn't a given that both are gone after being arrested for armed robbery, you need a new head coach. That said, the media can't be trusted to get any story straight, so we should all wait until we know the truth...

If the charges hold up, Kiffin won't have any choice in the matter. Armed robbery is a crime you don't get probation and supervised release for.

What, too soon?

I'm pretty sure you can arrest anyone for anything so I would prefer to see then convicted before any final judgement is made.

Agreed, I should have said convicted...

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with anything said here, mind you, but realistically for football purposes the conviction really matters. As long as the totality of the evidence points toward it being legitimate and not a hoax or something along those lines, these guys will be gone, just like Jimmy Johns was.

Not to turn this into a second Amendment thread, but I was disappointed this morning to hear Jay and the other guys on JOX make a big deal out of them using SEMIAUTOMATIC weapons.

What is sad about it? 3 kids (or 2 according to the article) have scholarships to play football at a D1 University and potentially make it to the NFL but, decide to throw it away by committing armed robbery? I call that stupidity. There is nothing to be sad about; they are just idiots who think the world's laws do not apply to them. Sorry, I have no sympathy for criminals in my book.

Pulling a gun on someone means you just gave up your "right" to anything for a few years IMO. I believe in second chances too, when they get out of jail. Sorry but they do not deserve to keep their scholarships, there are better people in the world that could use them.

I'm with you, RollTide1017. Some of these kids don't deserve scholarships and should not be on college campuses. If I had a kid in college I would not want these thugs anywhere around them.

If it happened that way (and I have no reason to think it didn't), then yes, they need to be kicked off immeidately as well as tried to the fullest extent of the law...All I was saying was, for example, if the guys were at the Pilot and all of a sudden Nuke pulls out a weapon and robs somebody, but JJ was just there and had no knowledge of what Nuke was about to do, then there's a difference in the two situations...In that case, JJ should be suspended the rest of the season for even putting himself in that situation, but not kicked off the team

However, that is highly unlikely, and while all the details arent out yet, I dont see a scenario where any of these guys are on the team next year, and if they truly did rob somebody or someplace, then they should be in jail...

I'm crossing my fingers that other details come out to exonerate at least 1-2 of the guys, but I'm not holding my breath for that

Well, they probably were using semiautomatic weapons. Where's the problem? I own a ton of semiautos...

According to this article linked previously they had a semi automatic pellet gun.

BREAKING NEWS: Nu'Keese Richardson, Janzen Jackson and Michael Edwards arrested for armed robbery

Still it will be treated as the same. Reports now that it was Nuke and Edwards with the hoods on and robbing and JJ was in the car. Some girl was driving and pot was also found in the car. No matter what Nuke was just homesick and missed practice and almost left the program. I think CLK will help him pack now. Also JJ no matter what is part in it was will also probably be gone now. He just got suspended, according to one site it was for failing a drug test and other reports had him also in trouble for a ordeal with a bouncer at a bar and underage drinking.

This is a pattern I do not believe UT or the CLK will allow to continue.

I really hate to see these young men throw away a chance to better themselves and their families.

The real question is where is Diane Sanford?

Exactly.

If you remember correctly, when Jeremy Elder was arrested a couple of years back for robbery, he did so with some type of fake gun. I don't know recall if it was a glorified water pistol or what, but it wasn't a real gun, and I actually don't even think it was a pellet gun for that matter.

It's all about what you led the victim to believe more than anything else.

I don't know. I could be swayed by the argument that, since it was a pellet gun, it was more "punkish" (suspendable) versus "thuggish" (removeable). Still early as far as facts go, of course.

From what I recall about JJ's father, he may well prefer to stay in jail than to go home and explain to his father...the college football coach, that he has wasted the best chance he had in life.

JJ may want to request that he be placed in protective custody.
