Urban Meyer Stepping Down (MERGED THREADS)

Keep in mind Jeremy Foley's past ways of dealing with this kind of thing. When Billy Donovan flirted with the Magic, he went after a protege, our own Anthony Grant. That leads me to believe that, after making to call the Stoops and making him say 'no', that the Dan Mullen and Kyle Whittingham choices really pick up steam.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Gary Patterson from TCU.

Didn't he just sign a big contract extension? What...........you think that he is a "Coach Fran"? C'mon, the guy has more class than that. Just because that is where CF was before we made the mistake of hiring him.

This is so sad. He had a long, great career ahead of him. Keep in mind, he is only 45. Saban is 58 and I think if he stayed at Alabama for another 8-10 years, he'd be near the end of his career. Urban had 20+ years of college football ahead of him. Really unfortunate. I hope his health concerns will improve and he'll get back into the game.

I am with you.

As for coaches, Harbaugh of Stanford might be a good candidate. And what about maybe bringing back Spurrier? That would be interesting.

Dude....

I was really looking forward to a Meyer-Saban rivalry every year, and I wanted to see how the offense changed with Tebow gone. I truly wish Urban would have stayed longer, and wish him all the best in "retirement". I will be pulling hard for Florida in the Sugar, thats for sure!

PS-tried to get on the UF board, but I think it has crashed...

I was really looking forward to seeing the Kiffin/Meyer rivalry develop as well next year's game against Urban and his Tebow-less Gators. I hope everything works out for him though.

Tubberville, Fran and Fulmer are available. I think this just propels UT in the drivers seat for the foreseeable future in the SEC east. What a break for Kiffin, he didn't have to improve the rest of the east came back to him.

Soldier For Tide...your account has been hacked!!!LOL!

Wishful thinking by some delusional barn fan...who has an IQ of a 12 year old.;)

I hope CUMs health problems are not too serious. You have to think for him to step down though it must be significant. We will be praying for him and his family. Good luck Coach.
