I went to their message board and Geez, you'd think they were Bama, Texas, USC and Florida all rolled up into one the way they think of themselves. VATech needs to do the CFB world a big favor and take them to the woodshed when they play. They're approaching the boogers in the way they're conjuring up situations which paint themselves as being a helluva lot more relevant than they actually are.

They were kinda cute there for awhile, sort of a feel good story in spite of that God awful blue field they play on, but all that has worn off, at least for me it has. They're acting like everyone is afraid to play them, even the elite teams. They need a stiff dose of come-uppance.....and quick.

They play VT at Fedex Field in Landover (home game for VT). With Tyrod and Ryan Williams coming back with the RB that got injured before last season, I predicted a good day for the hokies, who I actually do root for time to time

I am definitely tired of hearing about Boise State and I hope VA Tech smashes them into reality next season. On the other hand IF they do run the table again, I say they get a shot to play for the NC. JMHO.

Darren Evans.
They will have Ryan Williams and David Wilson, as well.
The Hokies will field one heck of a backfield next year.
I hope they lay the wood to BS University.

If they win the VT game, they will have the inside track on the BCSCG. Next season is their opportunity to prove that they belong, so I'll reserve judgement until then...

They also dismiss the past accomplishments of the Big Guns while demanding respect for theirs. And for goodness sake, don't ever bring up strength of schedule because it sends them to another level of irrationality.

They have a reason to think that people are afraid of playing them, ESPN has even tried to set up a top team to open up against them in 2011 and no one would step up. ESPN even had an article on how many teams turned them down. I have seen many Bama fans say that they did not want to play them because it would be a no win situation.
I visit the Boise Board often and the majority of them respect us. Yes, as with all scout boards, they're nuts and some over the top posters but most are good people.

Actually, most acknowledge their lack o strength but what gets them upset is when people can't comprehend that they can't just jump to the PAC 10, SEC, Big VII or any other major conference. Also, the idiocy that some believe that if they did join a major conference that they would not see an increase in talent.

You know if SoS was something that had turned out to be in their favor, they'd consider it quite differently. I hate to remind people of this, but this is exactly the kind if thing I was worried about after we lost to Utah.

I'm just thrilled that we answered that with a nice cup of shut-up and a crystal ball.

It still won't prove that they belong with the elite, it will only prove that they can put it together for ONE GAME. Let them try to go through a full schedule of meat-eaters instead of that pansy WAC schedule they feast on every year and they will have proven something. With their schedule, attrition is not a factor. I'd love to see them play an SEC schedule and see what they have left at the end of the season.

Boise State opens with VT on Sept 6th and they play Oregon State on Sept. 25th. I'm hoping both of those will be losses. I'm not counting on it, but I'm certainly hoping.

I know VT has a number of key players returning in 2010, but I'm not sure about Oregon State.

What were the terms of the proposed games? If they were going to be in Boise, you can forget about it. Their stadium is about 31,000, no elite team is going to play there, not enough money or tickets for their fans. Or same deal if Boise wanted a home-and-home, their stadium is just too small. If they want to be big time, they need more than a glorified HS stadium.

I root against them too, because I hate that tacky blue field. But their coach can scheme with anybody in the country. Game in game out they are one of the most well coached teams in the nation, regardless of conference.

He does seem to be a fine young coach, but lets face it, he's not exactly knocking heads with the big boys in the WAC. Dan Hawkins was a great coach at Boise against WAC competition, but not so much at Colorado against the Big-12. Same with Dirk Koetter, world beater at Boise, but a big flop at Arizona State.

Competition does make a difference.

Got to disagree with this. No matter what conference you play in it is tough to run the table. What they did last year was impressive. They didnt beat a schedule like Bama did, but they also do not have the talent we do. If they run the table next year and win the NC it will show they prove to be talked about with the rest of the nation in terms of BCS and NC shots. At least until Petersen moves on to bigger and better things.

I'll be pulling for the Hokies.

I really hope this thread doesn't bring any BSU posters over. Those guys are a really "special" lot.

So because Boise is less talented than us they should get to play a weaker schedule and still be considered an elite team? I didn't see the SEC take it easy on us when we were "less talented".... Florida State used to be a nobody, than they started playing anybody, anywhere for the same amount of money as big colleges would pay for regular games. Boise demands either a home and home or huge amounts of guaranteed cash for their games and then complains that no one will play them. There is no upside to beating Boise, if you win you did what you were supposed to, if you lose you get blasted (see Utah 2008). Thus, they need to act like that is what they are until they move into the elite. If we have the choice of playing Boise in a one home game series and we have to pay them the same amount that we pay a D-II school or we can play Penn State in a home and home and pay the normal amount I would hope we would chose Penn State. Teams schedule out of conference match ups all of the time with the big boys (Alabama, V-tech, Clemson, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami) i doubt they are scared to play Boise State, but that is what all their fans want to say, I think that is what has made me dislike them. Earn some respect before demanding huge amount of cash or asking for a home and home.
