Congratulations Chris, I think you will end up being a good player for AU. Good Luck and hope you have a healthy career.
AUTigers001 I want to encourage you to continue to post here at Tidefans. I'm sure it's hard at times with all the barn, barner, little brother comments. I've enjoyed your input and hope you can stick around as a long time part of the community like some of our UT & LSU friends.
As to your comment above I wanted to address this, "the staff at Auburn today is doing a great job of raising the caliber of potential on the plains." I told a friend this evening that I thought this was an important year to beat Auburn for Alabama. My reasoning is that like it or not Auburn is gaining some momentum. Yes there are obvious deficiencies in Auburn's defense which aren't going to be fixed over night. Also with time teams will catch up to what Mahlzahn is doing, starting this year. But for now they've had a fantastic recruiting class and things are on the up-swing. I think it's important for Bama to hopefully squash them this year and put an end to any momentum which might help them to 'catch-up'. Given Bama's schedule situation down the stretch, geee thanks for looking out for competitive balance SEC office, I expect the Tide to find the sledding pretty tuff down the stretch along. They're going to be dead-legged compared to the competition for half the season. By the time they reach Auburn it's going to be having an effect, we'd be naive to believe otherwise.
Schlante & Roll Tide,
Phillip
Not to totally dismiss what you are saying about facing Auburn at the end of this year (you make some good points), but I really think the key to "killing" any Auburn momentum will be beating them in 2011 on the Plains. Assuming Bama gets the job done this year in T-town (and I like our chances) going to Auburn in 2011 and beating them on their home turf (for what would hopefully be 4 straight by then) would really have to put a damper on the Auburn program and Cheez's popularity. What they'd be left with is knowing they'd have to come back to T-town in 2012 to try to stop the streak. By that point, Cheez may become Auburn's version of Bill Curry.
BTW, hope AU will stay around because you seem to offer some reasonable thoughts on AU football. A fresh breeze I must say!
Don't think Bama "lost" this one. Doubt seriously that he had a committable offer. Bama has several LBs rated much higher. He is not even rated yet. Likely a good player, but down Bama's list.
One of the drawbacks of being able to recruit high-end players nationally is that it leaves more local kids who would have come to Bama available for regional schools like au.
Hmm.. maybe Saban was just kiddin around when he told Landrum this?
"Coach Saban told me that I was exactly the kind of student-athlete they need in their program," said Landrum who carries a 2.89 GPA. "He thought I was a perfect fit for what they do on defense and I really feel like I could come in and make an early impact. They like me at inside linebacker right where Rolando McClain plays. It is exciting to get big news like that. It made my day."
It's hilarious when Auburn gets a guy that Bama was recruiting, his quality immediately diminishes and he didn't really have that elusive and enigmatic "committable offer." Guys, you aren't dealing with TT and the BBQ gang.

Nice first post. You should try to be a little more like your friend AUTigers001 if you want to hang around long. Just some friendly advice. RTR.:BigA:
As a complete aside, I pulled a Region on my family yesterday. Before church I told them we would go out to Friday's afterwards but when I got in the car I just drove to Chili's instead. And, although the reference would go over her head, my wife pulls a Region all the time. Of course, she mumbles something about women's prerogative as she does it....

Hmmm... I read his quote. Did Coach Saban say that he is a great student athlete, one that he would like to have? I think that it could very well be true but you show me where Coach Saban said that he was ahead of other recruits at linebacker? Show me where he said that he had a committable offer. Come on now. Show me.
As far as the comment about diminishing his quality, that is an age old thing the aubies do. Does it happen here?, but if you actually read through this thread you see very few negative comments about the young man unlike what you would read on ITAT about a Bama commit.

I didn't know my post was antagonistic. I just find it amusing that the reasons you guys always seem to give when Bama loses a recruit to Auburn amount to one of the following: "Auburn is offering more playing time," "We have several at that position higher on our board" (which I'm sure you have access to), "He didn't have a 'committable offer'", or the newest fad, "We're recruiting nationally now, while Auburn recruits regionally" (interesting logic considering that we signed the #1 player in AR, the #1 player in LA, the #1 player in MS, and the #2 player in SC. Look at last year's commitment list for more examples). All of these were mentioned in this thread, but please read it and tell me I'm lying. I apologize if facts offend anyone. Don't you guys usually say we're the insecure ones in denial?

As someone already pointed out, all those states are what some geography majors might call regional. But if you don't believe we have players higher rated on OUR board how about you go look at the linebackers on Scout and Rivals and see the ones that have Bama in their favorites. But then again I am sure the REC paid them both off. To be fair I think Landrum is a damn fine player but regardless of whether you want to believe it or not, we are waiting on some higher rated guys. If we miss out on a couple we may still push for Landrum.
Where is Ark, Miss, SC - if you look on a map you would know that those states are within the footprint of the SEC. That is hardly national recruiting. Btw, that is a fact - hope it does not offend.
Yes, Bama fans are so insecure vis-a-vis au. Even you probably don't believe that.
The reality is that he did not have a committable offer. Which means that he had an offer but that conditions that have not yet been met are on it. Bama has several LBs that are ahead of Mr. Landrum at this time, including obtainable elite national LB prospects. If those fall through, Bama will likely make a committable offer to him.
Do you really think that a Bama legacy would choose au over Bama if he could commit to Bama ? Or if so, that it would be for any other reason than playing time ? Any objective fan would see the unlikeliness of that, even an au fan.
So you're telling me that with as high of praise that Saban had of Landrum then he wouldn't have accepted his commitment? How do you have enough information to know what players the coaches will or will not accept? Like it or not, Landrum is one of the best players in the state in 2011. Also, in regards to national recruiting I was naming the top players we signed out of state this year, not every good player we signed on the national level (1 five* from TX, two 4*'s from CA, and one 4* from KS). Occasionally you just lose out on recruits, plain and simple; Chizik and his staff are great recruiters. They have proven that, yet you still find it hard to accept that they don't duck hunt in the off-season and recruiting might be a little tougher than before. This is not an attempt to rub it in though, I just don't like the nonsensical smearing of Auburn as if they're some form of subhuman species that shouldn't be so privileged to breathe the same air as Bama.

Even with the players I mentioned before, it is still rather impressive to land the best players out of multiple states which are dominated by their flagship universities who are members of the SEC(especially Thibodaux, LA). You guys are clever.
