Watching Saban teach the DB's shows how complicated his schemes and techniques are. It's one reason a good athlete taught 4 years by Saban is a pro scouts dream. He will enter the league far ahead of the average DB. It can also make you prone to breakdowns if each man doesn't know his job. Teach. Teach. Teach. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
 
Cool video, and I also enjoyed the coaches meeting video. Great to get to see a little of what is going on behind the scenes. I forgot that Coach Saban chews Redman Golden Blend. LOL
 
Watching this show the past two days, I can't help thinking about all of the negative comments by espn talking heads and others when CNS was hired in 2007. It makes me laugh that the school with "irrational" and "delusional" fans that would never get back to the top is now getting wall to wall coverage from the same outlet that was leading the charge against it just 3 years ago.
 
I love that show. made me realize how much I miss football practice. 30 something years ago.

I didn't realize Coach Saban was that involved in teaching. he moves pretty good for his age!
 
Did ESPN just start showing these "Alabama All-Access" shows starting with this Monday or were previous episodes also airing last week?

I just happen to catch it starting with Monday, so I hope I didn't mis any of this awesome episodes!

I didn't realize Saban taught Algebra too. All this talk about x,y,z and base. These guys need calculators. I can just hear coach, "Where is my tangent?! Who's cosign?!"

I hope these new guys get it down by week 2.
 
It's funny. I was watching with my wife, who I often chide for her lack of knowledge about football's basic rules. I had to admit to her that I was catching about 10% of what was being talked about by the coaches during this show.

I came away from the first two episodes with a newfound respect for Saban, the coaching staff, and especially the players. It definitely takes a special type of player to thrive in this system.

yeah, its a lot more complicated than when I played HS ball in the mid 70's, all we had to remember were the gaps, lead with your head and by all means wrap up!!.

I agree. Plus one of the things that many don't realize and it's one of the things that makes him such a great coach is his instruction policy with his coaches. He doesn't, nor does he allow his coaches to get on a player without giving them instruction. For example, a receiver drops a ball and he heads to the sideline and a coach yells "you've got to make that catch!" CNS said he doesn't want that coach on his staff. He wants a coach that, while maybe animated, gives the kid instruction. "Next time turn your hands like this", "watch the ball in", "turn your shoulders" or whatever as long as it's instructive. Coach said that kid and everyone in the stadium knows he has to catch the ball and if you can't give him some instruction on how to do it better you need to keep your mouth shut.
