I literally laughed out loud when I read this. I was thinking the same thing on the way to work this morning. I dismissed it quickly, though, with the confidence that we'll be the team to beat Auburn. My thoughts on that have not waivered since the beginning of the season. (FYI: Apparently, Vegas agrees with me. despite what the BCS and the polls say,as of today,
Bama's still the favorite in Vegas to win this year's BCS National Championship. I like those odds).
It won't come down to Auburn & Boise, but if it did, a nightmare scenario is a perfect description.
First off, I probably wouldn't watch it. Not sure which makes me more nauseus, the salivating over Boise or the oggling over Cam Newton.
If Boise somehow were to win, it would be not only an embarressment to the SEC and the state of Alabama, but it would be a swift kick in the groin to the old guard of the NCAA. And if the old guard were sending their best to take on the new guard, Auburn isn't the team I'd want to send. (For you WWE fans, think back to when they played the angle of ECW & WCW invading the WWF/E. They sent their best to represent them: The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Undertaker, etc. You don't send the middle card fighters who happen to be on a hot streak.)
But if Auburn were to somehow win, I wouldn't be able to listen to sports talk radio for at least a year!! Tony Kurre, on the Opening Drive this morning, said that this past Saturday night, he called one of his friends (who's an Auburn fan) and the first thing his friend said was, "Man, Alabama's losing 7 to nothing!". And he said that his response was, "Dude, your team just won probably the biggest game in recent history and you're probably gonna be #1 and all you're concerned about is Alabama?" That perfectly explains that contingent of the Auburn faithful. Other than rooting for the wrong school, I know that there are rational Auburn fans. But that particular contingentis the loudest and they have that little brother syndrome. No matter what they accomplish, they'll find some kind of way to make it about Alabama. **shaking my head**
Yeah...that matchup would be a very bad thing. Good thing it won't be happening though.
