QB Jacob Coker from AJ's high school has a Bama offer

What's the depth chart looking like at Fl. State? I wonder if this could be a serious factor for Coker if he sees earlier playing time at State.

He would be our 4th QB on scholly as a true Freshman(I'm sure he will RS). Would compete for Starting job in 2013 once E.J. Manuel is gone. RS Sophomore season he would compete against Clint Trickett, and Will Secord(if he doesn't transfer)
 
have to keep in mind that while ogilvie is on the roster if he ever plays he costs us a scholarship against the 85 since he is on the bryant scholarship. So effectively, unless he comes a really long way, he will never take a snap. Whoever loses the QB battle next year is likely gone, and that leaves a starter with ely backing him up and possibly blake sims as the emergency guy. Another QB in this class is likely a saftey net in case. Remember the kid from Tulane they made a similar offer to last year?

I dont see this having anything to do with Winston either. theres a long road left but he seems to be favorin us, especially with Ragland on board.
 
Supposedly Jimbo liked Coker more than Driskell the QB commit to UF and offered him. I like what I have seen and with our QB situation I say if CNS wants him we put the full court press on him. It may be a too little to late but it's worth a try.

He does not count against the 85 after two years. I not sure he was a recruited walkon, if not, he would not have ever counted against the 85. Just being on a Bryant Scholly does not automatically make a recruit count against the 85.
 
If he doesnt feel like coming here its not all the big of deal of course. Like someone else said, we have Blake Sims who is a bad QB and we have lots of other players that played QB in high school IF and only if we ever needed them...
 
OK, I'm putting on my conspiracy theory hat... We have some important recruits (Clowney) that are potentially interested in FSU. While that's a long shot scenario there is no denying that FSU has realed in a heck of a class and can most likely make a good impression on kids who decide to take an official to their school. They may also be trying to get some of the Florida kids we have (Hart & HCD).

Sooo... my conspiracy theory is that Saban is offering him for the possibility that he could be a solid back-up for us AND to keep the FSU staff busy trying to save Coker from de-committing and, thus, not having as much time on our other prospects. I am now taking my conspiracy theory hat off...

Or Saban just really likes the kid. :)

(For those that think that is a knock, Watts played during tough times for different coaches and had to split time and still ended up 11th all time.)

Yeah, but you have to remember that 11th all time at Alabama is not a big deal. Tyler was a good, tough runner, but he didn't bring much to the passing game.
