OT Cyrus Kouandjio Updates

People that take what barners say about Bama recruiting to heart are just asking for heartburn. They go by the philosophy of if you throw enough stuff at the wall maybe some will stick. In my opinion the thing that gives this situation so much attention is that ESPN's Tom Luginbarner is predicting Cyrus Kouandjio to AU.

I believe he is wrong but with Cyrus Kouandjio still saying publically that he does not have an overall favorite and that he has not decided it creates confusion. Not only that it has given credibility to the barners and emboldened them to make their claims.

I think we all just need to take a step back from the debate and wait and let CNS and the Bama staff speak for us. It won't be long until we know the truth. I am still confident that Bama signs Kouandjio and a hopefully a few pleasant surprises on NSD.

Luginbill was on PF today and seemed to back off his prediction, he added a lot of qualifiers to what he said, and basically said that he didnt know either and was only going off the surprise talk from a month or two back.

in other words everything he said was pure pot stirring.

From the Washington Post, 5:48 p.m. today

DeMatha Coach Bill McGregor says that uncommitted linemen Cyrus Kouandjio and Darian Cooper are struggling to make a final decision but both seem to have narrowed their choices to two schools. The period for high school seniors to formally accept scholarship offers and sign binding National Letters-of-Intent begins Wednesday.

Kouandjio, an All-Met offensive tackle who is considered one of the nation's top prospects, is down to Southeastern Conference rivals Alabama and Auburn. His older brother, Arie, is a freshman on the Crimson Tide's squad, but McGregor was uncertain whether he Cyrus will join Arie in Tuscaloosa.

"I don't know how it's going to play out," McGregor said. "I was with him for a long time yesterday too --- let's make a decision, get on with life. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he says Auburn tomorrow. But I don't know."

do you expect him to say all bama sorry auburn no surprise here and spoils the kids announcement. he is all bama

I just can't see him picking au because of the bad blood between the two schools. His brother plays at Alabama and it would just create bad feelings in the family.

Not to mention bad blood between brothers. What is strange to me is the sudden interest this late in Auburn. Was Auburn even considered last year with Arie? Could there be some payback behind the scenes playing out by coach Saban and Cyrus for all the shenanigans Auburn has pulled as of late? Surely not lol! Don't take this serious lol! Please!!!

Cyrus' "interest" in albarn got him another free trip to Alabama. I wonder where he and Arie met for lunch?

Big C loved Bama even more than Arie when they visited Bama together last year. He accomplished two things with his albarn visit........the above, plus put a lot more excitement in his recruitment.

Yes this has me wondering how the cow college suddenly pops up a month and a half before signing day
when they havent been anywhere near his top 4 much less top 10 then miraculously they show up.
Just like booger fans it smells.

well they did win the NC, and Miami fired Randy Shannon which opened up a spot in CK's list of favorites.

You'd better be right...or we're all gonna be ticked at you tomorrow :)

Cyrus Kouandjio to Auburn? - MaxPreps News

DeMatha coach Bill McGregor had told MaxPreps privately a couple weeks ago that he thought Cyrus would join Arie at Alabama next year. Now he's not so sure.

"He wants Auburn, I think," McGregor said Tuesday night. "He liked it a lot and had a good time. I'm totally surprised."

Cyrus, a powerful 6-foot-7, 325-pound left tackle, wasn't talking. McGregor said he failed to return two of his calls on Tuesday.

Arie said he did talk to his brother earlier on Tuesday. He insisted he doesn't know what his brother will say when he steps up to the microphone at noon (EST) on Wednesday to make his announcement on national television.

Yep, I too find it hard to believe that the coach is supposedly leaking information. I find it even harder to believe that Cyrus saw what he liked enough in 24 hours to base a huge life decision on.
