Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Like CNS said during his press conference, we targeted 3 guys to permanently take over at LT.....and only one is left.
It's true. Even with Carpenter, who was a great tackle for us, we've been making do at that spot with talented lineman, but we haven't found that prototype LT just yet. I think we all hoped DJ would be that one, and he still could be; but I think he looked a shade slow for the ideal LT at the next level. Cyrus on the other hand is the prototype. Exactly what Saban has been trying to get. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a multiple year CORNER STONE for our team if he were to come here. Anyone claiming to be able to provide more of an opportunity than that is lying. Anyone who claims that that opportunity is not available here at Bama for Cyrus is lying. And his older brother is already a part of our team here, and one of the leading candidates to start on the line right next to him during his whole stay here.

Come on down to Bama, Cyrus! Where your whole family can cheer on the both of you every Saturday with the rest of us. ROLL TIDE!

Man, what a day! It wasn't supposed to happen this way but it did. Thanks for the support people... most tide fans have just been class act! for those who have been following my posts, this just shows how big of a burden this has been on Cyrus and the fam... when i said he was taking this very seriously i really meant it and when i said we still didn't know where he was gonna play next year about 3 days ago, i really meant that too, but people thought i was just being tight lipped. Oh well! now we just gonna sleep on it and hopefully GOD will give him the wisdom he needs to make that major decision, because at the end of the day it's still Cyrus' decision...
Cyrus appeared today to be a very bright young man who was faced with a decision that was simply more than he could completely wrap his mind around with TV cameras and mics being thrust into his face. I don't envy the pressure he must be feeling right now at all. Best of luck to your family whichever way this all plays out.

MB. Thanks for posting here again. I can imagine how tough it is to make the decision, and 3 days without sleep can make it even harder. I hope Cyrus can gather his strength and evaluate the whole thing together with the family. There's one thing I have to point out. NSD is just the start of signing period, which means, if Cyrus and family feel the need to take a step back and take their time, it's perfectly fine. Like you said, it's Cyrus' decision at the end of the day, but no one wants to see him regret with his decisions two months from now.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Absolutely no clue what to make of Kouandjio. The final ten days of his recruitment have been the most shocking I have ever seen in all the many years I've followed recruiting. We've seen switches back and forth, but never anything like this from a player of this caliber between such heated rivals.

I'm hoping 'Bama gets him. We need him, and frankly much more than he needs us, as much as it pains me to say it. I'm confident he'll be a superstar at both 'Bama or Auburn and an immediate contributor at both schools as well. This isn't the caliber of player you can just replace and move on with like it's nothing. You miss here and it hurts very, very bad. No use drinking Kool-Aid to the contrary, just accept the reality.

I have no clue what to think, really. I think we get a decision tomorrow, but who he signs with is a crapshoot at best. My brain tells me 'Bama, but I have a bad gut feeling it will be Auburn. Either way, I'm afraid tomorrow could be a nerve-wracking day.

All I know is that if the Boogs pulled any crap, I hope it gets exposed in a big, big way.

Auburn has moved back to #3 on ESPN, as they are no longer listing Cyrus as a commitment. We are now #2 on ESPN, and #1 Rivals (Aubie #7). Scout? I don't know or care, they are a joke.

I was shocked to hear that he announced for Awbarn. He's someone that you can really put as the face of a team with his attitude and talent and I would love to have a solid LT in place for many years to come. I hope he comes to us whenever the ultimate decision is made. Maybe this will open up Arie's eyes a little more and instead of laying back and not talking to Cyrus too much on recruiting he'll talk to him about Bama

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I've been paying attention to everything that's being said on this thread, of Cyrus's decision about where he will play college football. But wouldn't it just be so cool if you could play at this level right beside your brother on the offensive line, on a team contending for NC's every year, knowing that your names would forever be remembered in Alabama football history. I'd give anything for that opportunity.

I wonder if the rivalry is as strong between the players at UA and AU as it is between the fans...??? If it is, two brothers at these two different schools don't need to be competing against each other.

C'mon Cyrus, join your brother and the good guys.

Hopefully, CK will take a look at Trent Richardson's interview from today or better yet talk to Trent (if that is allowed). For those who may not have seen it, Trent talked about how he could have gone to a lot of places and been the premier back from day 1, but instead he came to Bama and that the competition at Bama has made him a better player and a better person.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I don't know BET, how "very, very bad" do you mean? Like not signing him would cost us a shot at winning the NC over the next two years? I tend to think that we have enough pieces of the puzzle in place over the next two years to bring home #14. Just as the staff found a way to replace Big Dre with Carpenter I believe Douglas can and will fulfill the same goal in replacing Carpenter. Granted, every team would love to land a superstar LT. But the reality of it is those type of LT's don't come around that often. The majority of teams do not have one. I think if we can get a SOLID LT in place , who doesn't turn out to be a swinging gate, then we can do fine.

I know one of the knocks or "needs improvement" is his pass blocking skills. So there's a good chance that he wouldn't play right off the bat this season anyways. All of this is all subjective but I think realistic.

Does this sound familiar?.....

De'Anthony Thomas took signing day drama to an extreme. It is a tremendous recruiting coup for the Ducks, who hosted Thomas on a visit last weekend, a trip that seemingly changed everything in the five-star athlete's recruitment. Until then, other programs were under consideration but it came as a shock to many when word leaked out this week that Thomas was seriously thinking about changing his pledge.

I couldn't imagine the strain this would put on his parents. Those poor people will have to watch separate games if they do it in person, either by splitting up, or by just picking one over the other. Don't Hurt Your Parents, Cyrus!

I think Coach Saban would much rather have a guy in place for 3-4 years at LT, but Alabama still has a solid guy to step in for two years at LT. Aaron Douglass has SEC experience he brings with him to Alabama, and that can't be underestimated. That being said, Cyrus' talent combine with some experience would be unreal. He really has the talent to be another Andre Smith or Chris Samuels. Here's hoping that's the choice he makes soon.

How much better would it be to have 2 LT's that swap in and out and stay fresh? You talk about beating a defensive line down, WOW!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I think you're right if the kid was more than likely going to be "the starter" from day 1. But I'm not sure anybody is ready to go ahead and step out on that limb with Douglas on campus. If Cyrus turns out to be the stud many are saying he could be then if it takes him a RS year to become that stud then it is very likely we don't get three full playing years out of him. With players looking to jump to the NFL as quick as possible it is hard to plan and/or recruit with a 3-4 year window in mind. Because many of these kids are only on campus for three years then you have those that RS (Sydney Rice of USCe comes to mind) that leave after their RS Sophomore year. I'm not saying I don't agree with you its just become harder and harder to realistically plan out that far with any sort of accuracy.
