Franklin's mentality is that Vanderbilt is no longer playing the "victim". Instead of using the academic standards as a reason why it's hard to recruit to Vanderbilt, he's using it as a reason why players should want to go to Vanderbilt.

Even though he was tied to the previous regime there, Maryland was nuts to let him get away.
