Game Thread: Oklahoma - Oklahoma State

Beating a really bad OU team still shouldn't erase losing to a 6-6 ISU team...and I don't think it will, for most voters.

Either way, it is what it is...its up to the voters now.

It's disingenuous to think a coach shouldn't lobby for his team. He is making the best argument he can, and frankly with no common opponents, none of us can objectively say that what he says isn't the case. Do I hope that Sabans full court press on gameday and CBS today has the desired effect? By all means, but everyone has to realize that our argument for being in is no less valid than theirs. We are both 11-1. We both lost when a win would have almost assured our spot.

What voters needed tonight was an excuse to move OSU above us. OSU did what they needed to do. Don't forget UA is back in the hunt because of a whole bunch of circumstances. It looks likethe same thing has happened for OSU to get back in the discussion.

All that being said, here is hoping for some sanity from the voters and they vote based upon the eye test, not what was flashy tonight. Roll Tide!

That's the problem - some of you are viewing it as a 'right' and 'wrong' issue - it's not. It's subjective.

We believe Bama is the best team in the country and can argue why, yet we lost our chance to make that argument on 11/5. That's the fact. Now it's purely up to the subjective view of the voters.

No one here is saying OSU is better than Bama. We're just saying we lost our chance to have a strangle-hold on the BCSCG when we blew it on 11/5.

Facts is facts.

Now we have to hope the voters feel the same way we do.

I would say electing to move OSU up from #4/#5 to #2 on the basis that you don't think two teams from the same conference should play in the title game or don't want to see a rematch goes against the premise of the polls (which is to rank the teams on their play - not to dictate matchups) and thus becomes 'right' or 'wrong.' If you - the voter - thought OSU deserving of a title shot, perhaps they should have been voted #2 or #3 at worst before today. If you move OSU from #4/#5 just to please your fancy of not wanting to see LSU/Bama, IMO, that's wrong.

The difference is we are ranked #2 right now and they are not. The unwritten rule is you do not penalize a team for not playing. They are 11-1 and lost to a 6-6 team and we are 11-1 and list to the #1 team in OT.

Yeah I heard what Gundy said and my response is, there is no way OSU would score 30 something points against LSU. In fact LSU would make this yr's Nat'l Championship game one of the least competitive games, because that game will be competitively over by halftime. Gundy should be careful about biting off more than he can chew.

I disagree if LSU was ready the game would be over by the end of the first quarter. Gundy has to say what he has too for recruiting and standing by his school but deep down inside Mike knows both Bama and LSU would crush them.

We're going to get our wish either way. It's so funny that Gundy thinks he could score 36 pts on LSU when he could barely score 40 on a OU team that didn't even show up.

Yeah, dont see anyone scoring 36 on LSU. I do think they would be competitive VS BAMA or LSU. I think they would score 20-24 points vs either. Now, BAMA or LSU would score 27-30 points.

some people think I threw it to the Cowboys
Some think I'm not a real good coach
My friends call me Stoop-id
I'm overrated & can't win the title much
Cause I'm a Snoozer, I'm a boozer, I'ma Sooner & I'm a loser
Watching my meltdowns ain't real fun
I'm a joker, not Larry Coker, but still a big game choker

Some are assuming that there is a massive wave of anti-Bama/rematch sentiment. If that was the case, would Bama be sitting at #2 right now? Most think that OSU has too much ground to cover to make up the deficit and you have commentators on different shows all day saying that LSU and Bama should be in the Nat'l Title game. Just relax and wait and see.

People say they've seen LSU/Alabama before and they want something different. I say we've seen SEC/Big 12 before, several times, and I'd like to see something different. Should LSU play OSU, this is my prediction: LSU 31 OSU 13. LSU will control the clock, their defense will be in Weeden's face all night, and Ok State will do good to approach 300 yards total offense. We've seen this movie before, 4 times, and it ain't gonna change now.

Heck, Herbie just 'voted' for us, and even Mushburger had to admit LSU and Bama are #'s 1 & 2.

The doom-n-gloomers should take some time off if we get in to the BCSCG. The hand-wringing drama in this thread was unreal.
