Re: QB Jameis 'Jaboo' Winston (FSU Soft-verbal) Updates

Uhm I'll take Winston over a defensive lineman. Winston has the chance to be something special and I wouldn't dare move on until he's signed.

Re: QB Jameis 'Jaboo' Winston (FSU Soft-verbal) Updates

Wasn't CNS recently in attendance at one of his games? What makes you think he has moved on?

Who said he has? It's literally his job not to move on.

At the end of the day, though, that changes nothing. He never "moved on" from Reuben Randle, Jadeveon Clowney, Malcolm Mitchell, Isiah Crowell, etc., but that doesn't mean we actually signed those kids. The same will almost certainly be true of Winston, too. It's not to say Saban cannot or should not keep recruiting him, it's just to say that from the perspective of an outside recruiting follower there is no real reason to keep your hopes up or keep wasting energy following this one.

It's Christmas, the season of surprises. And if we don't think situations can change, let's all go back and read the early threads on Landon Collins. Not a lot of optimism expressed there either.

Re: QB Jameis 'Jaboo' Winston (FSU Soft-verbal) Updates

I respectfully disagree, BET. For all those near misses that you list there were probably a lot more that flipped because CNS kept recruiting, kept doing his job. There is something about the situation that keeps him circling Winston. Until he stops, I prefer to keep my hopes and my energy level up. RTR

Our coaches should never move on from a talent like Winston, but I moved on when I watched him tomahawk chop with Alphonse Taylor at the AL/MS All-Star game. I made up my mind there he was committed to being a 'Nole.

Well this changes things...

Is that the same Alphonse Taylor who de-committed from FSU today?

Re: QB Jameis 'Jaboo' Winston (FSU Soft-verbal) Updates

Not to get too carried away with Taylor just yet, but hopefully Winston does something similar. Having said that, I'd caution against getting too worked up about that possibility until we see something more, because what has transpired with Taylor has been very strange and not the norm on the recruiting trails.

We'll see what happens with Winston. If we can get Taylor that certainly will not hurt our cause, but even so Winston has made it pretty adamant publicly that he is sticking with FSU. Maybe he's just putting up one ungodly smoke screen, but that is what most indicators point to now. We'll find out for certain in seven weeks.

Well, as CPB might have put it, that's quite the "sudden change" from "Let's move on." Welcome back to the land of make believe.

Tomahawk chopping one day and singing 'Yea, Alabama' the next. Recruiting never ceases to amaze me, although Taylor's case seems to be pretty abnormal.

He wanted to play OL, but from my what I understand Alabama was recruiting him as NG from the beginning. Things may have changed on that front.

Well, in honor of our dear departed coach, that's quite the "sudden change" from "Let's move on." Welcome back to the land of make believe.

For the record, I'm very much still observing the Land of Make Believe crowd from the ridge about three miles away with high powered binoculars. Nothing I said in that previous post should be construed in any way as joining in that.

Just to make myself perfectly clear, Winston has done absolutely nothing publicly to make anyone rationally believe he is coming to 'Bama, and just because a guy like Taylor pulled the late flip, that in no way means that should be expected with Winston too (and he's also done nothing to legitimately indicate he'll pass up big-time baseball money regardless of where he signs). I've long been an advocate of his ability and have hoped we could find to way to get him on the field in Tuscaloosa, but there is just almost nothing out there to be optimistic of that ever happening. I certainly hope I'm wrong in the end, but for the time being that's the truth of the matter.
