Re: Four Bama football players arrested...

This is extremely odd considering that you made this post way before this entire incident as if you already knew something had already went down. It seems overtly sarcastic as if you were just waiting for some not so good news to giggle and foam about before it came out in the press. I do know that the boog eaters have been obsessed with UA and Bama for over a century. Its been known for years where there were situations like police officers that are boog supporters working on campus in Tuscaloosa not to mention other plants constantly spying on UA student athletes. Either way it reeks of toxic blue and deer hunter orange.

This situation is bad enough without someone smearing it.
I'm all for a good conspiracy and all, but this sound a little far fetched don't you think?

Four Bama football players arrested...

Given the "process" is on going five years and all checks and balances are set. Where is/was the senior leadership/staff not to see some of this coming? This a running group of younger players and somebody had to see something brewing this past year within the Saban system.
Who's to say that this wasn't a known issue within the team leadership? To quote from Cool Hand Luke "some men you just can't reach". You do have to let some things run their course however ugly that course may get.

I dunno about that buzz..As long as the players don't get in trouble with the Law..It's hard to say or tell what any of these players will do..When they're around our coaches..They can act like they're doing all the right things..Their teammates are the ones that truly knows what's going on in each other lives, cause they're around each other longer & more off the playing field..And in all likelihood..Players won't rat out each other..And that puts the coaches in an ever tougher spot keeping all these players out of trouble..

Umm no. Operation Red Dog, the fishing trip, Jelks on a napkin, destiny in club with Mike etc. Need I go on?
This thread was started at 9:00 a.m. Sunday. The robberies occurred 3:30 a.m. Monday morning. Quit the tinfoil stuff.

Well this stinks for the victims especially. Coach Saban has put a system into place where they players have more support for class, motivation, life lessons, and so on than any other program; it is a great place to be if you want to excel on and off the field. If you chose to do something foolish, your blood is on your own hands; you have had every opportunity and more than most people.

I agree. And that's what I was alluding to in my post. CNS, and all great coaches, have to rely on the team to help "police" their own teammates. And the coaches get feedback from the team leaders regarding who is not doing everything correctly.

Based on what I've heard, I don't think some of these players not making it four/five years within the program is a surprise. One or two bad apples can bring down other players with them.

I'm sure the team/coaches know who the problems are, and I hope any others are removed before Spring practice begins. There are plenty of players with equal talent that can will do things right on and off the field.

Liquid, you may want to try spell check at least on every other word. Something tells me you want be in this thread long enough to matter though.

We're now in the era of four year scholarships. Even if they did know of issues with these players, getting rid of them isn't that easy if all they see are attitude problems. You have to have an excuse to get rid of them, so basically unless you can get them to transfer, or unless you catch them breaking rules, you have to keep them on scholarship. Even if you technically could just yank their scholarship for a bad attitude before the four year scholarship nonsense, these players are expected to get a scholarship as long as they don't flunk out or break team rules. I don't like this approach, and I surmise Saban doesn't, but he even gets blasted over medical scholarships.

So, for those of you looking for a place to put blame (other than the deserving shoulders of the players that did this), blame a system which says a kid is entitled to a scholarship, rather than the coach choosing whether or not he deserves a scholarship.

Always has...
Scarbinsky had an article about this and I hate to say I kind of agree with him. Although Bama fans might know what Saban's history of indefinite suspension is, most casual fans are going to think that it means he is suspending them to figure out how to save them or something like that.

Given the confessions I really thought that it would be easy to get rid of the 3, Calloway could potentially get another shot but his prior arrest makes that less likely. What I'm hoping was since apparently Coach was away on vacation he is waiting to get back into town and get all information before making a decision. Some of those past indefinite suspensions lasted a long time, I don't want to see that in this case.

Scab's article is his usual troll piece designed to get hits/traffic only. I doubt he even agrees with the troll pieces he typically writes.

I think you are confusing what delusional rival fans may think (Auburn fans) compared to the vast majority of casual fans or fanatical followers of say USCw, Texas, Michigan, or even Montana. Most people know there is a process that has to play out before a player is kicked off the team and expelled from school. That process normally takes more than 2 or 3 hours to play out. I doubt this issue will take long.

Come on Guys. This is simple. Bama is a Law school and any lawyer worth his weight will always tell you to Suspend first until you get all the facts and then make your permanent decissions. This is 100% by the book and under the guidence of UA's legal team. You can take that to the bank.

It's hard to fire people in today's litigious world especially in the public sector like the University of Alabama. The school will want to hear all the evidence and pass it by a lawyer before terminating any scholarships. While a show of strength by Saban appeals to the media, it isn't the prudent move if it turns into a protracted legal battle because one of the accused is acquitted of any wrongdoing.

No one should be concerned with Scab's troll piece or rival fans. This process won't take long.

No I've seen mocking comments from several prominent national writers making fun of the indefinite suspension. If they are coming from them then they are coming from chunks of all fanbases. I mean seriously other message boards have 30 page threads about deer antler spray I'm sure they are running with this. I don't have a problem with it as long as they are gone by the end of the week, any longer to me is inexcusable.

As Scab points out Auburn got rid of their kids in 8 hours. Signed confessions that amount to felonies don't seem to leave much room for legal action by the kids, I'm sure the contract covers situations like this.

It's textbook UA legal and PR working together. The response is largely out of Mal Moore's and Coach Saban's hands. This from a long-time corporate PR person.

So we should follow what Auburn does? I'd rather Coach get all the facts and talk with the kids about how they can help themselves moving on outside of Alabama (whether that is after jail time or not). Plus the country has pretty much said we cheat in every way possible and will jump on us at the first chance they get. Forget what the country says. Due process is the right way to handle this situation.

Re: Four Bama football players arrested was progress of Eddie Williams & B. Calloway?

I don't understand some kids nowadays, they get a free ride to a major college with a chance at a NC, and they do something stupid like this. Ya'll know this happens everywhere too, not just here at the Capstone.
