Poll: Guess Week 1's Upsets - 2013

For the purpose of this poll, an upset is defined only as a lower/unranked team defeating a higher ranked team in the AP Poll. You can pick as many as you'd like. If you think a different upset not listed will happen, let us know which. An (H) beside a team represents the home team.

First week of college football is almost here, so let's get some upset guesses going! The poll only allows for 13 choices, so not all Top 25 games are listed. I have tried to list the ones that I think will be the most competitive.

I'm going with Clemson over UGA and Cal over Northwestern this week.

Going with Clemson over Ga as well. I'm really not sold on the dawgs right now, time will tell. Early Cuyler is gonna be madder den hell after this one is over.

I am surprised that Clemson is favored as UGA has a history of starting slow. I took them and Pitt over FSU. Give me Vandy too in a minor upset over Ole Miss.

I'm also going with Clemson over UGA, though I sure wouldn't bet money on it. I just always try to pick out one. UGA's defense is the issue. The Bulldogs can score points, but it may be a little while before their defense gels. Of course, usually when see a shootout coming it ends up 12-9.

Clemson over georgia. And for some reason, that lsu game is really looking like a TCU upset. TCU has the tools and the offense to show how weak the lsu pass defense really is.

Clemson over UGA is easily the most likely. I'm not even sure it would be called an upset, other than simply the poll rankings....It's basically even money.

I know one of these will happen, I couldn't pull the trigger to pick one. I honestly think Georgia is going to stomp all over Clemson despite their normal slow start issues. I do think Vandy may upset Ole Miss. I may have picked that one if it was in the poll.

I like Miss St., Washington, and Nevada. Boise is vastly overrated this year and Sarkasian has something to prove as does Dan Mullen. I don't think MSU is very good, but I don't expect OSU to be a top 15 team either.

I am as big of a GA hater as there is. Can't stand them. But, I agree with you, Clem can't hang with GA

I have tried to list the ones that I think will be the most competitive.

Then why list the Bama/VT game? Count me as one who doesn't think this will be one of the more competitive games

Washington over Boise St was the only upset I saw on the board. Really it's impossible to know very much about some of these obscure teams preseason. I can't name one player or the coach of most of those teams on the poll. I don't know what kind of offense or defense they run, but I do know who wins historically and I know the team mascots. ;-) That's about it.

Nevada, even with a new head coach, over UCLA. BOOM
Ms State: a pretty good SEC team over a pretty good Big 12 team any day. Plus, it's more important to Mississippi State.

North Carolina over South Carolina is a very real possibility.
Vandy over Ole Miss. Not sure with all the extra stuff going on at Vandy. The Rebels will probably win this one.
I don't think Clemson will beat Georgia and don't think it will be that close. Georgia can pound it and control the ball with those big backs.
Washington is a real possibility over Boise. I kinda like that one but not sold.
I'll stick with just one outright prediction--North Carolina will beat South Carolina. That's my upset.
Fedora's a pretty darn good football coach and they were very close to being a really good team a year ago. i know they'll be better and I'm not so sure about South Carolina. sip

I took Clemson as well but laid off the Vandy upset because of all the players Vandy has suspended, don't know how much that will affect them as a team. I realize Vandy-Ol Miss is not one of the picks but if it was.
