****Bama vs. FAU - Postgame Thread****

Every alignment has an assignment for each player that puts them in a specific gap between the OL. We're having guys out of position occasionally...more than anytime other than the 2013 Auburn game really.

Thanks. I hope it comes together before SEC play.

Sims played much better than Coker in the first half (although Coker was better in the 2nd half than he was in the first), but unless Blake Sims can demonstrate a consistent deep ball threat, we'll see defences that have reliable corners crowd the box with eight tacklers, and Bama's offense will find the sledding gets tougher.

Saw a few comments in the second half game thread about how the stands started emptying, even before the rain and stoppage.

I know there's been a lot of hand wringing over this and I know what CNS has said in the past, but if you've never sat in the stadium in the full sun especially the north and east stands then you don't realize how hot it can really be, especially the 11:00 games because you have full exposure for the whole game.

I took my daughter to a game last year and we left mid-fourth quarter, when the game was confortably in hand, because it was so oppressive.

Saw some gripping about the empty seats, but I bet if you wanted to today you could have bought a ticket 30 minutes before game time for $25 or so.

Blake Sims performed great today doing everything he was asked to do and the play calling while he was in played to his strengths. The one mistake may or may not be his to own, I kind of think not. Jake really looked good considering his situation and time in the season, he obviously has a tremendous upside, even if he isn't "ahead' in the QB competion. I think of Coker continues to get quality playing time by mid season or so we'll have the luxury of having 2 very different but very good quarterbacks. The team looked ready to play and real good today. Kiffin is a great play caller. We're going to be happy to have him, especially down the stretch.

Precisely and that is why the vertical passing was being tried out with Coker.

If I pay what I pay for my seats, I'm getting my money's worth.

Coker had a lot of easy passes that he missed. Blake Sims completed most of his easy passes.

Coker was overthrowing bubble screens, throwing at guys' feet when they were a yard past the LOS..he had his share of easy throws. In addition, bubble screens were less effective with him in the game because of his slow delivery.

I agree with that. One seems to throw the short, quick stuff better, the other the longer shots better (or we assume that just because Sims hasn't throw very many longer balls).

This. Stop hounding Sims for the lack of a deep ball, he hasn't been asked to throw many, and Coker didn't seem that accurate when he did throw it deep. The deep ball to I believe Stewart was underthrown.

Well you definitely pay what you pay. :)

That's kinda the point, you got the right, if you pay to stay or leave.

FWIW, I usually stay to the very end, even in a blowout. But I kinda bothers me when others act like noone should ever leave early because each person's situation is different. Some have small kids, others have health issues, others are more pressed for time, etc.

My philosophy is stay to end, if at all possible, but i don't judge those who may leave.

Now, why the students need to leave early is another thing IMO.

I don't judge...since I definitely know people have different reasons. We stay because usually the kids are spending the night at the in laws. So when we go down to ttown...we make a day of it. We take our time and take it all in. No rush.

So we stay till way after the game is over..and slowly make our way out after. Usually is better on traffic too.

The concern I have with Coker is that he seems to lack touch. The way Coker was throwing asks a lot of his receivers and IMO hinders their ability to make plays the catch. I wonder how easy his problems really are to fix. By most accounts his problems have been with him for his career and extend beyond not knowing the offense well. He can be effective, but he's got a lot to work out.
