I would bet the farm if Kiffin welches on his agreement with Saban it will make Saban furious, although he will likely downplay how disappointed he is to learn Kiffin's word is worthless.Like I said in an earlier post in this thread, Lane is waiting till after NSD so this recruiting class doesn't get shaken up here at the end..![]()
So much for Lane's turning over a new leaf. (Assuming that tweet is true)Like I said in an earlier post in this thread, if Lane is leaving he is waiting till after NSD so this recruiting class doesn't get shaken up here at the end..![]()
Why would Kiffin care about making Saban furious? If Kiffin leaves he won't ever have to work or answer to Saban again. The NFL won't care .02 about Kiffin going back on his word to Saban. It's all business..I would bet the farm if Kiffin welches on his agreement with Saban it will make Saban furious, although he will likely downplay how disappointed he is to learn Kiffin's word is worthless.
Because life has a funny way of catching up with you. If anyone should know that it should be Kiffin. His phone wasn't ringing (AT ALL) before Saban called him. Odds are if Saban hadn't of called him I doubt anyone would have called him ever again. To turn around and go back on your word to someone who basically gave you a career saving life line will have consequences. If this plays out to where he goes to SF and he fails. He's completely done. I can almost guarantee that. Why would Kiffin care about making Saban furious? If Kiffin leaves he won't ever have to work or answer to Saban again. I agree with that to a point, but at the end of the day you have to do what's best for you and your family. Everyone makes a big deal about Saban giving Kiffin "another chance." If Saban didn't give Kiffin another chance someone else would have. Maybe not last year when Saban did but someone would have at some point..Because life has a funny way of catching up with you. If that tweet is true -- and I'm Coach Saban -- I'm hiring a new OC....now!If Layle and the kids are still in California like some have said, I don't blame him for going to the 49ers. He has to miss his family, so I can see that being a reason he wants to take the job.
I've been self-employed my entire career. I've learned there are two kinds of people: those that will do what they agree to do and those that will welch on any agreement if they see any advantage for them in doing so.Why would Kiffin care about making Saban furious? He will wait till after NSD (if he knows Kiffin is leaving) to keep this recruiting class together. No need to do the coaching change now..If that tweet is true -- and I'm Coach Saban -- I'm hiring a new OC....now!
Your situation and Kiffin's is totally different. The NFL doesn't care. If Kiffin goes to SF and his offense is successful he will be in line for another head coaching job in the NFL. The NFL is a business and if you can produce then they deal with the baggage..I've been self-employed my entire career. Kiffin could indeed thumb his nose at Saban and the promise Kiffin made to stay longer than one year, with no immediate consequences. He's weathered plenty of bad press before. But at some point Karma will take over.
I'm still hiring now -- I may be waiting till NSD to share the news, but I'm hiring now.....He will wait till after NSD (if he knows Kiffin is leaving) to keep this recruiting class together. No need to do the coaching change now..
Yea I agree with that. I'm sure he has the candidates in mind..I'm still hiring now -- I may be waiting till NSD to share the news, but I'm hiring now.....
If that tweet is true and I'm Coach Saban, I've got CLK standing in front of my desk explaining the situation. I'm thinking CNS wouldn't have trouble finding an OC and he could also understand CLK being a young man and missing his family. If that tweet is true -- and I'm Coach Saban -- I'm hiring a new OC....now!
I would also ask why wasn't this discussed among his family before taking the job at Alabama and before giving a two year commitment. When the job was first offered I'm pretty sure his wife already knew whether she was going to move or not. It seems there were a lot of things that could have and should have been considered before accepting the job. That is unless he never intended to honor the two year commitment in the first place...If that tweet is true and I'm Coach Saban, I've got CLK standing in front of my desk explaining the situation.
