If I had to put money on it, I'd say no. The universe is just too big of a place for it to be likely that alien life happened to wander here. But, I wouldn't be shocked to find out we had been visited.

"Ancient Aliens" is always interesting. For nothing else, to see these "experts" dislocate their shoulder reaching for "proof".

I've read many books and watched countless shows about aliens and ufos during my life and I've come to the conclusion that aliens exist in some form, but they have never been here.

From a purely scientific standpoint I doubt it seriously. Like Catfish said the odds are heavily stacked against it.

Deities notwithstanding:

It is against odds that we even exist.
Add to the odds that it happened more than once.
Add to the odds that they gained sufficient intelligence.
Add to the odds that they detected us.
Add to the odds that they are close enough. (even if the dimension theories were true).

We've only really been sending out signals that could mark earth as a home to intelligent life for about 100 years. There are 10,000 to 15,000 stare within 100 light years of earth and 90%+ are red dwarfs that are really unlikely to be home to intelligent life. So, at most there are 1,500 possible systems (and only about 500 G-type stars) that could conceivably have life to have already detected us and come a-callin'.

Something that really intrigues me concerning the possibility is the whole discussion is the definition of life. Could there be life forms based on some other element? Would they have the same properties, sustainability requirements, etc.?

As one who does believe in God, I don't discount the possibility, but again the likelihood based on what we do know seems near infinitesimally small.

There are plenty of aliens out there somewhere (not on earth). Some more advanced than us, some less. Distance and time is what keeps them away.

SETI is searching for "signals", but the telescopes in orbit are looking for planets in the "Goldilocks" zones of various stars--in other words, planets that might be able to sustain life (as we know it), not necessarily life (intelligent or otherwise) itself. And think of all of the Star Trek-ish technology that has become available--other civilizations could have propulsion capability that we haven't dreamed of yet...
