Re: Kiffin's future...

Someone mentioned the fired HC from Indiana as a potential OC to replace Kiffin. Possibility?

Kevin Wilson will never be put in charge of students again. He might score an off-the-field analyst job where he never interacts with UA student-athletes but there is nearly a zero-percent chance UA hires him into a position where he supervises students directly. The things that got him fired from Indiana are career enders

don't know details...was just going off what was described as his coaching skills. I'll take your word on it.

http://www.idsnews.com/article/2016/12/culture-of-fear-existed-under-kevin-wilson

In the days after the resignation of IU football coach Kevin Wilson, several players described a culture of fear.

Players said they were pressured to play through injuries, such as blood clots and bulging discs. They said their requests for treatment were not only ignored but met with jabs such as, “Stop being a ***** [rgw's note: female derogatory term].” Those who suffered injuries, players agreed, became damaged goods.

These players knew what they were getting into when they signed up to play Division I football, but they didn’t sign up for abuse. IU Athletics did not respond to multiple requests for comment on
this story.

Re: Kiffin's future...

It is too bad for Lane that the contract couldn't be finished before today as today is the first day of the dead period until January 11.

Re: Kiffin's future...

Couldn't be happier for coach Kiffin getting this opportunity that he has earned! There are no rules when it comes to this, but that's kinda how it's supposed to work - do good, earn, move on!

Ive never paid attention to all the rumors and still dont. All Ive seen in Kiffin is offensive brilliance with a average of 30+ points a game, even touching 50!

Thankful for the 3 years and future vision Kiffin has helped achieve. Roll Tide

Re: Kiffin's future...

I wish him success at FAU which may springboard him to a top Div I team. He obviously knows what he is doing regarding offense and calling a game. His problem seems to have been maturity and/or character issues. Hopefully he has gained insight on the correct way to run a program while at Bama. If he fails it will be all on him.

Re: Kiffin's future...

FAU HC > LSU OC and I love it. What a blow to LSU fans ego who thought Lane would gladly leave Nick Saban for Ogreron. That's like leaving the penthouse for the outhouse. Maybe the rest of the SEC can start a "I hate Alabama" support group.

Here's to the continuing march to mediocrity for LSU.

Exactly! Why would Lane do a lateral? He has an ego too much for that. And then work for someone that worked for him?

Kiffin's future... (Going to FAU, Reportedly Staying Through CFP)

Congrats to Kiffin! I am glad he is probably staying to win another Championship for us. :)

Back in 2009, none of us could have known that he would lead us to 3 playoffs and 1...hopefully 2 Championships. Just crazy and I wish him the best.

Re: Kiffin's future...

Is it wrong that I want LSU/Tennessee and Auburn AD's and Head Coaches get lifetime contracts with huge buyouts? I think all parties involved warrant such extensions.

LOL at Ogre for making promises can't keep. But hey Tommy Tuberville is available.

No. It is not wrong. One of the best idea in this thread so far.

Re: Kiffin's future... (Going to FAU, Reportedly Staying Through CFP)

Now that I see Coach Saban has confirmed the hiring, I'll say that yes, I missed it. This surprised me.
I had said I thought Lane had too much of an ego to go to work for a former assistant. That's the only reason I'm not surprised he turned Orgeron down.
But he did take a big pay cut which is unusual.
Like I say, I'll have Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce on my crow. Yum yum.
I don't think this saga is over though and I don't think it will be for a few years.
There's always a chance that Kiffin turned down Orgeron because Coach Saban told him that he needed to go prove that he could (1) be a successful head coach, and (2) that he could straighten his act up.
Regardless, Kiffin did an unbelievable job as OC and I think we'll miss him, far more than most believe, probably more so for his ability to develop quarterbacks as much as being OC. He also opened up the West Coast and beyond as far as recruiting, which we had never had to such an extent.
I hope his parting doesn't hurt us with the current west coast commits.
Whoever follows Kiffin will have some mighty big shoes to fill, and I promise you, he better produce big big time, because if he can't put near as many points on the board ain't nobody gonna care if he's a good human being off the football field.
Best of luck to Lane Kiffin, and go Owls or whatever they are :)

Re: Kiffin's future...

So, will Blake Barnett now decommit from Arizona State and follow Kiffin to FAU

Might as well. Can't surf in Benson, Arizona................
