Re: Kiffin's future...

Definitely not a career suicide for Kiffin. It's a great way for Kiffin to show what he can do with a program, and I think if he can show what he can do for next two years, he will have better opportunities. Now, I wonder because he will be making 600k, is this something going on between Kiffin and Sexton or Kiffin did this on his own?
Kiffin doesn't do anything without Sexton. For that matter, neither does Saban. Sexton has been behind all of this, including Kiffin's still being at Bama...

Re: Kiffin's future... (Going to FAU, Reportedly Staying Through CFP)

LSU board already in meltdown - they've lost two QB commits while waiting for their OC, who is now going to coach at FAU, and now they have to compete with Bama for an OC...
Yep they can't thank their "lucky stars" that they hired the great coach O that the whole SEC would be scared of once he got the job. First he pretty much screws Kiffin by saying what he did and Kiffin pays him back by taking FAU over the "program nobody would turn down". I love it.

Reportedly, CSS is dealing with some recurring personal issues.
I hope not. I was really rooting for Sark because I think he is an offensive genius and I wanted him to be our OC. But if he can't get his life straight we do not need him here.

Re: Kiffin's future...

You may get to see just that. I see it as Napier, Locksley, or someone from outside we haven't even thought of yet...
I really hope it's this choice. Napier was the OC in Dabo's only losing season at Clemson and they were 86th in offense that year scoring 24ppg. Locksley was nothing but mediocre or worse at Maryland. This is Alabama. Go get a guy who is great at OC'ing an RPO offense like we will run with Jalen and pay him.

Re: Kiffin's future...

That seems to be about the perfect landing spot. He's not going to be able to take any key players/recruits with him, and he's not likely to get in Saban's way. Also, due to the level of the job the pressure to hit the ground running won't be so strong. I think all parties would be fine with him coaching in the playoffs, it's more exposure for Kiffin.
Maybe a very big opportunity to spend some additional time with his children as well as his ex-wife is from the state and a Gator alumnus.

You mean Lane isn't sticking around until next season or until Saban retires like some were convinced?
When Earle and JessN say or imply Kiffin is gone after the SECCG, I consider it the TF equivalent of Moses on Mount Ararat.

Part of "Coach O's" pitch in getting the LSU job was his promise to put together a "hot shot" staff and he threw Kiffin's name out there as one of the marquee names he was going to get. Now that he couldn't come through on that, along with losing two QB commits. I wonder if LSU's AD is starting to have buyer's remorse? Seems the fans sure are.

I'm glad it's over. I'm sure the players are too. I wish CLK the best and expect him to do well. He was good for Bama an Bama was good for him.

I almost feel like escaped unscathed.

Re: Kiffin's future...

Someone mentioned the fired HC from Indiana as a potential OC to replace Kiffin. Possibility?

Re: Kiffin's future...

Is it wrong that I want LSU/Tennessee and Auburn AD's and Head Coaches get lifetime contracts with huge buyouts? I think all parties involved warrant such extensions.

LOL at Ogre for making promises can't keep. But hey Tommy Tuberville is available.

Re: Kiffin's future...

LIFE IS GREAT
We have Coach Saban.
Kiffin is going to FAU instead of LSwho.
Coach O is at LSwho (nuff said)
The Barn still has Gussy
Tennessux still has Butch
We have great assistant coaches
We probably have the best college football team of all time
We have another stellar recruiting class
We have the best facilities in college
COLOR ME HAPPY

Re: Kiffin's future... (Going to FAU, Reportedly Staying Through CFP)

I wish him good luck. Go with the thanks of a grateful university. He has personal / off field issues, apparently. I hope he can resolve those without further damage. I disagreed with play calls, but it's hard to argue with success. Also, he deserves more credit than he has gotten for his work with our quarterbacks. Sexton will take care of him on the money -- he'll be pitching cars, furniture, and who knows what else. The more wins he racks up, the more he can cover shortfalls.

And, I'd like to stop talking about him forever.
