Possible Issues Within LSU Coaching Staff Brewing in Baton Rouge?

Their staff is a mish-mash of Les Miles guys (several of whom came onboard during the final Miles years) who just a few months ago saw O as a peer rather than a boss, and new hires without any real longstanding loyalties to O. It is a recipe for disaster rather than cohesion. Either clean house and bring in all your own guys or go for total continuity (in which case...why fire Miles in the first place?). Trying to split the baby rarely if ever works.

Here's what concerned me about the offense for LSU.

First two game, they were trying to figure out key players for offense and things seem to get better.
Then, that game against MSU messed up. Couldn't score but 7 points against MSU. Was offense that bad? Over rated?

Danny Etling is throwing 921 yards completing 60.8 percent and he's averaging 9.08 yards a game. He has 5/1 ( touchdown to Interception for the year)
Myles Brennan is throwing 160 yards completing 55.6 percent (10/18) and he's averaging 8.89 yards a game. He has 1/2.

The issue is not the QB play.
Is it the Running game? Williams/Guice are splitting time at the RB and both are over 300 yards for the year. Both are averaging almost 5 yards and both has 5 touchdowns for the year.
Nope RB, isn't the issue.

Bottom line: They have talents on the team, but there isn't playmakers at Receivers, and this goes back to what Ed said about the offense. I think there is too much thinking going on between Canada and the players. Too much going on in the offense. Ed stepped in to " simplify the offense" and it didn't help. They only scored 21 points.

Ed stepped in at the wrong time. Had he stayed out of the way, Matt Canada probably beat Troy by 2 or 3 touchdowns.

The Florida game will stay a lot about both teams this weekend. Who is bad? Who can make plays? This is perfect game for both to see who can step up and do well. If LSU wins, it speaks volumes about Florida's mess and etc. IF Florida wins, then it means LSU is that bad. We need LSU to start winning couple games in a row to demonstrate that our game against LSU is valued.

If offense doesn't improve toward end of the season, I suspect Matt Canada will leave LSU after the season is over.

Alabama has to deal with a lot of attrition on the roster and they don't rebuild, much less implode like LSU is doing. It's a criminal waste of talent to do what they are doing.

This is also a perfect example of why you don't fire a proven coach to try something new. You need to be confident you are making the right move, not just doing it to see what happens. I was always critical of firing less Miles, especially the way they did it. I saw some people say they just had to try something different, but well... here you go.

if Les Miles is there this year, he's 5-0. Defense dominate as usual and be ranked in top 10.

From what I've seen and from what my LSU friends are saying, the biggest issue is in the trenches - the lines are soft on both sides of the ball. I don't care how much talent you have at QB, RB, or WR, if the lines are soft, you're going to lose more than not.

It surprises me to see this, as Orgeron is mr tough guy, grunting, spitting, biting - but this lines are getting pushed around. I don't know how you fix that mid-season, so I'd not be surprised to see them lose more games they should win because no matter how much things change games are still won and lost at the line of scrimmage.

I hope they lose the rest of their games. I bet, though, they will look much better by the time they play us in another month and that Guice will be full speed. I know they don't look good but they have the talent and will still give us a good game. Hope Hand is back by then.

I think it would be a big step in the right direction if Coach O could learn to talk so you can understand what he's saying.

A HC with a defensive background interfering with the new OC.

Making major changes to the plan late in the week, changing back at halftime.

No communication between HC and OC

Possible dissension b/w staff and HC.

A soft team drastically under-achieving its talent.

We've seen this movie before....that version directed by Mike Dubose.

This will not end well for LSU.

This is hilarious. Surely, Barrett doesn't believe this. (He probably does.)

Rebuild? This team was in the national title hunt heading into November 2015 and beat the Heisman winner into submission during the 2016 bowl season.

This is a collapse.

Not many watched that game until late but I watched it passively from the first snap. Troy definitely went out there and took it to them. No trick plays, just well executed balanced spread offense. LSU looked pathetic.
