Mullen to Florida

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

He was probably the best coach out there. I think If Spurrier stays away enough then Mullen will probably take the East away from Kirby in the coming years.

Bazza thoughts?

He only talks about Florida. No words that I see of him speaking of his time at Mississippi State. I thought it was traditional to give the program you are leaving praise.

It's about time this finally happened. I guess he doesn't hold a grudge since they passed him over every time they've had an opening since he left UF - including this time. Perhaps the East got a little better today.

To early to tell, he is a pretty good coach, but UF expects a lot. Not sure he is a program changing guy. Not sure he will be able to really RUN the program without outside people messing with him. May be a great may fall flat.To soon to tell, he has not even moved in yet LOL. Maybe 3-4 coaches around are a guaranteed upgrade to any program, mullen ain't one of them.

I wonder how much of UFs success was him and how much was due to Meyer and Tebow.
Well, Florida lost to Alabama in 2009, the year after Mullen left. Ohio State didn't make the playoff in 2015, the year after Herman left. Meyer needs a great OC. Mullen filled that role at FL.

Some where out there
The question is.... IS he taking the MSU staff with him or will he hire some of new OC/DC?
My guess is he'll take who ever is willing to come. I think they've done pretty good as a collective group but I'm sure there may be some staff who wants to see who the replacement will be ....maybe a promotion in ranks if warranted

Agree. He knows his way around campus and is a proven, successful HC. UF fans that I know are ecstatic.
Saban heavily relies on coordinators for recruiting. Did Meyer, in his time in Florida do the same? If so the Mullen could have some good Florida connections.
