Oh, they likely were, hence the recent lawsuit by Deontae Anderson.

That said, any kid that signed without looking at the obvious smoke is earning a solid life lesson right now. I seriously doubt anyone who signed with OM over the last few years had no clue as to what was happening.

I have zero proof, no one has told me anything - but there are a few players that I would LOVE to see wearing crimson who were heavily recruited by Bama and signed with OM (and let's be honest, in most cases we know why they switched their commitments at the last minute). That said, if they're allowed to transfer and they choose Bama, I'll not be upset.

But if they decide to stay and stick through whatever punishment, that's on them. I can't imagine any of them had no idea what they were getting in to. Makes zero sense, this has been going on too long.

No one feels sorry for the guys who took cash.

CA makes a strong case. If kids are allowed to transfer without sitting out a year there really is no reason to feel sorry for anyone.

If it's true, it's about as close as you can get to the DP without actually applying it.

Remember, they self imposed a bowl ban this year and self-played a bowl ban last year. That would be 4 years without a bowl. Players can immediately transfer without penalty. Plus, 25 scholarships? That'll do enough damage.

If players are eligible to transfer without sitting out a year that will deplete their roster even more. That's what hurt SMU so much back in the day. Practically the whole roster left after they had their program shut down and it has never recovered. I will say this: if the NCAA is punishing them in this way, then it must have been pretty bad in terms of the cheating. The NCAA has been very lax in recent years (Miami, UNC as prime examples) plus Auburn getting off scotfree for paying Cam.

If 13 is all the scholarships they lose, that's ridiculous! And I believe UA paid more in monetary penalties during textbookgate than that!!
