Sherman Williams and His Troubled Road to Graduation

Dude, that is outstanding and very impressive. Congratulations to Sherman on this great achievement.

Congratulations, Mr. Williams!

And props to UA for this:
The University of Alabama picked up the tuition costs from my past scholarship, so that helped out a lot after I paid for a couple of courses up front myself.

Outstanding all the way around. Makes me so proud!

Good for him. I always enjoyed watching him run.

Dug himself a hole, stopped digging, climbed out of said hole and got his stuff together.
Happy for him.

I still remember the great game he had against Ohio State in the Citrus Bowl, great talent... too bad about some of the issues in his life but good to see him getting back on track.

It is good to see him getting his life back on track after plenty of self induced issues over the years...

He's really turned his life around, and trying to give back, and help young people. http://palmerwilliamsgroup.org/

Sherman has also written books about his life experiences.

And yes, I AM a fan of Sherman, not for his mistakes, but for how he's responded to his mistakes.

I hope all his problems are behind him. I knew him when we were at UA and he was such a nice guy. I was surprised to hear what happened after Bama.

Congrats to him! Love the Nelson quote. Too many times society views failure as final. Sherman proved that you can rise above it!

A buddy lived in an apartment complex frequented by Michael Irving, Mark Tuinei and other Cowboys greats that were known for off the field partying. Thought was Sherman was not the ring leader but, took the fall for the enterprise. Don’t get me wrong he was involved but, other bigger fish were too.

I was a student at UA when Sherman played. I remember standing along the rout, during the parade celebrating the National Championship, holding my "Century of Champions" autograph football in my hands. I had previously gotten all the major autographs from Coaches and players...but I didn't have Sherman's.

as he approached, I jumped out in front of him and did the best rendition of the "Sherman Shake" that I was capable of doing...and held out my football and a sharpie. He smiled and lauhed at me, stopped and said, "We're not supposed to do this, and I'll probably get in trouble from Coach Stallings, but how can I refuse after that?"

I have great respect for the way that he has righted his ship...and this memory is sweeter to me now than it has ever been since it happened waaaaaay back then.

That is an affirmative on the 'attaboy' for Sherman. Will always remember him catching that Jay Barker pass near the end of the game versus Ohio St after losing the SECCG in '94. Also against Miami in '92 he had a very good game. Good for you Mr Williams! Roll Tide!

As someone who has been a part of the drug culture, I know how hard it is to escape and I congratulate Sherman turning his life around. His work with kids is so needed and a great example of someone that made a lot of bad decisions righting his life.
I'm very proud and happy for you. Roll Tide!
