Playoff is set!!

If Tua is a full go, you score 70. If Jalen has to start, you score 60.
This is obviously pure conjecture on my part but my thinking is that Jalen is a better option at QB now than Tua with the limited mobility he dealt with following his initial injury. It would appear that Enos has had a tremendous impact on Jalen's ability to read the field and make effective plays downfield or with his feet. It is in my thinking one of the best examples of what expert coaching can mean to a young athlete. Couple that with Jalen's strength, running ability, coolness under fire and experience in big games and it becomes a question as to what combination at QB is the most effective overall.

I temper that with the thought that no QB anywhere can be effective with a defender always in their face. It frustrates me no end to see the team constantly pushing the ball downfield into the teeth of the defense when there is potential to get the ball to a running back with room to run. As CNS says "become a head coach and you can do it your way"!

Those high ankle sprains can linger for a long time. Maybe he will be healed by Dec. 29, but I will be surprised if he is back in top shape by then. Last night, before he got the ankle injury, he could not scramble against the Georgia onslaught and he took a few sacks because of it. I believe he had some lingering injuries going into last night's game. Regardless, four weeks of rest will certainly help.

You should check out the thread on Tua injury/procedure. Surgery has greatly reduced healing time and re-injury for athletes.

His knee hasn't been 100% and he had what appeared to be a left ankle sprain earlier on the first drive.

Not surprising, but Tide Pride email indicates Orange Bowl will be unavailable to me, but I can order not 2, but 4 championship game tickets. Santa Clara is a long way from my couch.

Thing is, we really just need to run the football. Score, eat up clock and stop them a couple of times. I wouldn't mind Jalen starting that game. Depending on this "procedure" it may be the best thing for the team.

Correct. Early in the game, on a sandwich sack, his left ankle got rolled over pretty good. That was the first trip to the tent, and he got extra tape. Didn't appear to move normally after that. Then he got stepped on which took out the right ankle. I'm assuming it's the right ankle that will need the work.

Why do we always get the night game??? I'm on the east coast so the game doesn't start till 8:00! Just once in 5 years I thought we would get the day game, but no. Bama problems! 😄

I thought we played the early game one year. Not last year maybe the year before? Who knows it all runs together.

We usually do lose meaningless bowl games...

sure

we have played 6 top 50 defenses... They have played 2

we have played 8 top 75 defenses... they have played 3

they are ranked 124 total defense... Ole Miss is 120... Louisville is 121

Point is we are going to be the best defense they have seen all year, and they will be the worst defense we have seen all year.

One can not argue hard stats, but we found out yesterday what happens—no matter how good you are on either side of the ball—when you commit unforced errors and don’t execute. I’m telling you right now if we go into Miami Gardens and play the way we did yesterday, especially on O, we will lose this game.

I think the most important thing will be Alabama's running game. Oklahoma isn't especially good in run defense, but Alabama hasn't been as consistent in the run game as years past.

Alabama does not want to get into a shootout and the best way to avoid that is to use the run game to control time of possession.

I don’t know about all that. We have the weapons to shoot out with OK. I don’t believe they have it. Plus, we can defend.

Just play like we played all the games except the SEC Championship game. If our focus and execution had been there the game last night would not have been close. We made far too many errors on both sides of the ball. It was a wake up call and each one of our players can learn from their mistakes. I'm actually relieved that we have gotten the bad game out of our system before the semi-final and final.

I agree wholeheartedly—but, with a program like ours and coaches that are basically paid and treated like their NFL counterparts, how on earth does that happen? Both our players and our coaches are very experienced in games of this magnitude and in this type of venue. I’m just honestly curious.
