Plans for Tonight -

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Probably watching from the comfort of my basement. Alone...

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Will have a few friends over to watch the game and they are like me very into the game. We know each other to the point to know when to talk and when to shut up but the thing of it is I've known these guys for over 40 plus years. Food will be off the grill and beer and so forth will be flowing and also have sober drivers ready for afterward. Roll Tide!!

P:S Also got a title towel for a dirty Santa gift that I'm going to have to tryout.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Due to my ministry schedule, I have been home alone all week. Wife is taking care of her parents in Bama. My son is moving to Alabama this weekend. He will stop in and keep his old man company during the game. Nice to have someone in the house until wife gets in Monday. Hopefully, me and wife will be able to watch one more Bama game together before 2019 season.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

I've tried a few times watching in groups, even taking a laptop and minding the game thread at the same time. Maybe it's age, but I just can't do it any more. People are talking and laughing, not really watching the game, while I'm watching every little detail the cameras will show me. Nowadays, it's just in the company of my wife, who's actually a pretty acute observer, although she doesn't watch every second like I do...

I'm in the same boat except tomorrow I'll be at my son's house. This can be difficult with the grand-kids running around. My complaints in this regard have fallen on deaf ears.

My wife is as sharp as they come. Her father was in the sports business; she seemed to pick up a lot and knows what is going on in the games. Funny thing though, her mother attended a countless number of college football games (and basketball) and never seemed to have a clue.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

As the only Bama fan in a household of Aubies, I should be ok. Son and his fiancé are at a party tomorrow night and my daughter out of town until Tuesday, my wife will probably be in the sitting room reading and I’ll be munching of bacon wrapped jalapeños and chicken wings and sipping on The Glenlivet.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Me and Mrs. Gtown plan to be in the den watching together. Her prediction for the game is that Bama will score 52 points and OU will score less. I'm usually not in the mood to eat before a game but I probably will BBQ some chicken and have it later! RTR!

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Met some great fans this week, but not this morning. Shared a bus seat with a Sooner couple. Began the conversation by saying "oh, a Bama fan. We'll talk slower." [emoji849]

It just went south from there. Went through the whole list- what year did you graduate from Bama? How many national championships do you REALLY have? You were nothing before Saban. You guys have mastered the art of cheating, etc.

My response shut them down and even got a chuckle from a Syracuse fan: "This dynasty run we've been on has been incredible- indescribable really. But the one thing that pushes it over the top and gives me the greatest joy, is the absolute MELT down that takes place by me merely walking into a room- or sitting down on a bus- with a Bama hat on. Thanks! You guys have a great day!"

The OU fans I've met in the past, and the old-line posters on this board, bear no resemblance to the ones that have been coming out of the woodwork lately.

I'm fast losing respect for a fanbase I once thought was among the best in college football.

This new version is a Midwest reincarnation of UGA. Lots of mouth, and lots of woulda-coulda-shoulda, backed by only a few slivers of success since the late 70s.

Every fanbase (including Alabama's) has its share of jerks. I've never seen a change like the one I'm witnessing.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

I prefer to watch at home. I like to focus on the game and not worry about what I am saying during the game. Looking for the Tide to Roll.
Yeah, same here. Watching with my dad on the 65 inch 4k Samsung curved screen. I watch all Bama games with my dad. Tradition. Oh, wings and beer will be involved as well.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

I was really close to getting a curve.

When you decide to upgrade, I say go for it. I don't regret the purchase at all. Get your lifespan out of that 70 inch though! I actually went 65 inch curve because they gave me a great deal with the sound bar included. Now I am hooked.

You can’t actually watch the game in 4K though, right? Last I read up on it cable companies output content at 720p and then its upscaled to 1080p. Nowhere near 4K yet..

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Watching just with wife and #1 son. Will have email chat with friends. I'm not really fit for polite company during games. Or so I'm told.

My wife, who is a Bama fan knows I can't watch with her mom and dad(barners) So, it's even easier to keep a 30 year old tradition of just watching with my dad.

I have a new gen hopper through Dish Network. Ultra HD channels are supposed to be in 4k. Same with the new gen genies through DirecTv
