Early thoughts on Clemson

i answered your question. Here is one for you: what team on Clemson’s schedule would lose by less than two touchdowns to Alabama?

Lol nobody this year. Honestly if bama and Clemson played 5 times Clemson would probably win 1 or 2.
Bama is the best program in College football. That's why Clemson loves playing them :)

Look, it's a common tactic of late for everyone to dismiss the schedule of the winners.

The reality is this: while I think Clemson MIGHT have a tougher time with 1 or 2 teams, I don't think anyone on our schedule would beat them. In fact, I can only think of two teams I'd give a chance to beat them - us and UGA.

And I'm not totally sure about UGA.

The best two teams ARE in the game, and it wouldn't matter if Clemson had played several better teams. They'd still be here. It's possible that the accumulation of such games might have netted them a loss - but they'd still be here.

And same with Alabama (say if we played Oklahoma, Clemson, LSU, Ohio St, and Georgia in a five-week span).

IDK, your memory is suspect.

It became pretty obvious that several Oklahoma fans had only watched the Georgia game and knew the halftime score against Citadel.

They were making value judgments about us that demonstrated they hadn't seen us play anything but the last game.

Other than Texas A&M, who has Clemson played? An overrated Notre Dame. They barely beat A&M and squeaked by Syracuse. They're not the 2nd best team in the nation. UGA would beat them by 2 TDs. We'll beat them by 3.

Did you watch Clemson? They have improved dramatically because their QB has improved. He has a cannon, can run, and is cool. They had little to get excited about with their schedule. They manhandled a good ND team. Bama is better; but better meaning winning 7 out of 10. This game could go either way. It is likely to go the way of the first two games between the two; who makes a play in the 4th. I would rather have a rout; but Clemson is playing their best ball now. They are not easy to beat; but neither is Bama.

They've improved as their QB gained experience. Their QB is good, but not as good as Tua. They have a very talented RB, but Bama has 3 that are just as good, if not better. They have some good receivers, but Bama has the best receiving corp in the nation. Their defense is good, but is it really any better than Bama's? Hard to say because they haven't played anyone. Bama will score at least 35. Do you think Clemson can score that much on Bama? I don't think so.

IF ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we would all have a Merry Christmas..

If UGA didn't pull a UGA and blow a 2 score lead with bone head playing calling, you would have lost..

Clemson much improved since September when the team was switching QBs and Mund played out of his mind hitting players while going down and several tipped passes that were completed (not excuses but one of those games).

Bottom line, great teams win games. I don't think either has played the caliber they will see Monday night.

Georgia improved greatly as the season went along, but handled South Carolina easily. You guys gave 600 yards and 510 yards to Jake Bentley. Fromm, Drew Lock, and Tua are MUCH better QB's than Bentley. You bring up OU, but Murray is also worlds better than Bentley.

Let me ask you this - who is your best/signature win this year?

Maybe, maybe not. ND squeaked by Vandy, Ball St, Pitt, USC and Michigan (all single digit wins), which was their signature win for the year, and we see what a fraud Michigan was. They were probably a solid team, but probably a 5th or 6th place team in the SEC at best. Does anybody truly believe ND beats Bama, UGA, LSU, TAMU, or UF? I'm not completely sure they beat Kentucky, MSU, or even AU, depending which version of AU showed up.

Bama is better this year and so is Clempson...small edge to Bama because of our schedule and we were better than them last year...
Both teams have "generational" QB talent...small edge to Bama because Tua is older and more experienced
Both teams have really good Dlines...edge to Clempson because overall are better at the position and also have more depth...Big Dexter will help if he returns but the difference is minimal...
Linebackers...even
Secondary...weakest part of both teams...even
Oline...Bama is better
Wideouts...Even...both teams have plenty of freaks
Tightend...edge Bama...Irv is the best in the land and the game maybe won with how we use him!
Running Backs...even...both have a stable of running backs...Clempson's best back may be their 4th team freshman Lynn j Dixion...remember that name...he will have a breakout year next year!...even
special teams...both are average...even

Folks...i'd love nothing more than for Bama to bring home the NC AGAIN! And i am confident we will. But mark it down...Clemson is every bit as good as UGA and certainly is coached better. I'm afraid this is going to be a old fashion dog fight like 2015 and 2016. I keep up with the details of "UA" football and other than Bama, I know more about Clempson than any other team because I have two 30 year friends that work on their staff. They certainly respect us a ton...and i have never heard them say a negative syllable, but over and over they say this team is way better than 2015, 2016 and 2017...and they say over and over Lawrence is for sure better than Watson. Say they have never seen anything like it when the ball comes out of his hand. I'm just glad TLaw is a freshman instead of a junior on this team. From their perspective they will be better next year than this year.

Bama 28 Clemson 24 #RTR
Have to quibble a bit with that. TL is a good QB, but he's not a Tua or a Kyler. Here is the ESPN QB rating table...

I don't believe that Clemson is better than UGA, at least, not in any way that I would feel comfortable wagering on one versus the other. Of course it's all hyperbolic, so it really doesn't matter. With that said, I do think that Clemson is a very good team and perfectly capable of beating us if things go their way.

However, the only team they played all year with athletes even remotely comparable to their's is A&M. I'm not saying that was the best team they played all year, I do think ND takes that crown, but they simply haven't faced teams with NFL caliber athletes across the roster. Honestly, there aren't that many teams that have that, but we've faced LSU, Auburn, UGA and Oklahoma (on offense) that does.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's difficult to really know how good Clemson truly is and how closely they compare to us given the competition they have faced so far.

This is true, which makes it silly to come on a rival board, beating your chest and proclaiming superiority, when you haven't played the team you are dissing. I welcome visitors who can add something of value, like why they think a position is better, not just chest-beating...

I'd go as far as to say that Alabama and Clemson are two teams that would probably be a national champion in any other year but they're both in 2018 so here we are...only one can be a champion.

Well he did run about 10 yds less than TE when you consider the angle

can't find the article now but the CU players have monitors on that show how fast they run etc during a game...ETN was at 20.6 and TLaw was at 20.0 mph...and renfro was tracked on that play at 20.1 ...i'm just saying he ain't shifty but much faster than you would think...he ain't no brady or manning when it comes to running
